Nah, Star Flare, it wasn't too bad. Now, if I hadn't used Apoxie Sculpt, it probably would have been a nightmare. My kitty loves the wires sticking out...so he clambered up on my desk, knocked her down to the floor, and was chewing on her fin wires. Some were pretty bent up, but no lasting damage.
And,well...hmmm...I think I might have some pictures to share or something... I think I'll let Coral-to-be do most of the talking.
Yeah, it did. Ouch.
Time for some paint!
Soooo, as those pics showed, she got her body colors on. We had the red base, then some orange, then the interference powder layers (red, gold, and blue, if you're curious) and last was oil pastel shading and a Mod Podge/interference powder/water/really thinned down paint mixture (two coats, one in red, one in gold). My camera, as I've found, hates the color red.
Now, normally jewelery and eyes are the last things I work on, but I needed to get these done when I still had some room to work in there. The eyes and ear/muzzle shading aren't 100% yet -- I want to blend those in a bit more, but it'll be closer to the end. And there's eye glossing that hasn't happened yet either. I didn't forget.
She's checking out the progress with the ref pic. :tongue2: There's one pretty big thing still missing, you know? I wonder what it could be...?
FINS!!!
And yes, according to the artist who designed Coral, she was based on a betta fish. I've been dying since I started her to get to the point where the fins go on, and here we are (still wet with glue -- probably way more glue than I needed, but that's between me and my Tacky Glue bottle). Keep your fingers crossed for me...this will be my first foray into Fantasy Film. (Watch me catch her on fire when I go to heat the film. Just watch! :laugh
And as always, thank you to everyone who's been following along. Your comments are appreciated!
