Your Favourite Generation?

G1 the first, and still the best. :smilepony: I loved the adventerous storylines of the G1 story, even more then the slice of life tales of G4.

All of them! Even G3.5 is growing on me :satisfied:
 
Personally I love the G1 ponies the best because I grew up with them. But I also like the first of the G3's that came out. The G2's are okay, but they kinda remind me of giraffes lol.
 
As a child of the 80's - G1!
I hate G2 and 3.5

G3 and G4 are OK but they need to release more then just different blind bags.

This will sound familiar: G1, since it's what I grew up with. They're by no means perfect, but there's plenty there for me to love, and I certainly won't run out of G1 ponies to collect anytime soon. G2 looks really weird to me, not like MLP at all. A lot of G3 looks nice, very reminiscent of the originals, but I don't have the resources to investigate the line further or splurge on any toys, short of stumbling on some for hyper-cheap IRL. G4... I don't think there's enough there to sustain my interest.
 
For me G1 to G3. I guess also G3.5 to a point. G1 brings back memories :) I think G4 will be a bit hard for me to accept. How can I like a creature that is supposed to be a "pony/horse" when they don't even look like a horse of any shape or form at all?
At least G3 had heads that look similar to horses with their cute muzzle noses.
 
G1, because those are the ponies I grew up with. Nostalgia!
 
For me it's a tie between G1 and G3, G1 is the one I first knew about from my mother(gave me Sugarberry and introduced me to the craze). I then waited years for "the ponies to come back" and G3 was their coming back for me(first g3 was Minty I bought her the second I saw her in Target). I did have one G2, dainty dove, but being a US fan I had little memory of them and I was born in 93 so my contact was limited to G2s. I like G1's show over G3, since G3 kinda.... the art can be very weird at times, but I love the first few shorts and movies best for them.
 
As with most I'll stick with the gen I grew up with- Generation 1. I love their soulful eyes, their often bashful posture and the satiny quality of their bodies. They remind me of fine times, when there was no real evil in the world (insofar as a young bunny knew) and I had nothing but hope and promise in my wee world.

Now I feel old. Dang.
 
I will list ALL of the generations in my liking order.

G3, G1, G4, G3.5

G2 does not exist. Burn the monstrosity. BURN IT.
 
G1 is my favourite, but I like them all except 3.5. I don't hate 3.5, but I'm pretty indifferent toward them.

I grew up with G3 and collected them for two years and never really had that many, and I grew out of it by the time I hit grade 3. But I started collecting the G4's in early 2012. For over a year I was in love with G4 and I blew over $1000 on it in a short period of time (because I just had to have every new release...). But over the past few months I've been really into G3. I've been steering away from G4 because there's nothing really special being released. They got rid of the Favourite's Collection and replaced it with the mane six -one and a princess all dressed up in... adult wear (?)... All they're doing lately is re-releasing the mane six over and over and over x600. They only new release's I plan on getting are some of the new FS ponies. But yeah, G3 is currently my favorite gen :)
 
I grew up with G2 and I adore how graceful they look. However hands down G3 is my favorite. I adore the huge variety of cutie marks and how unique they were. Look at Waterfire or Port-o-bella. To me G3 seemed to test the bounds of creativity. I also love how so many ponies were released. I've been collecting them for 6 years and I'm starting to near the end but I still have many to go. Each one seems to have their own personality. Even if a pony is similar it still has something special that sets it apart from the rest.
 
Re-reading through this, my first response was g3 all the way... but after I read the topic with fresh eyes just now I was thinking "G1 and G3".

And how I think G3's are better than G1's, is the designs are more evolved and compact. I feel like the anatomy was an improvement, instead of "let's make them different for the sake of taking risks and being different".

G2's, G3.5's and G4's for me, have their purposes as custom ponies~ they are perfect for certain designs and representation of some characters.
 
G1 for me! Like the majority that's the generation I grew up with :)

I feel the same way about G3.5 and G4 ponies. They really don't appeal to me but they have so much potential for design. I especially like G4 customs. What could be cuter than a G1 pony with an adorable pocket-sized G4 body? <3
