What's your favourite generation(s) and why?

G3 will always be my favourite, because it came out when I was a child (almost a teenager) and got me into collecting, and probably due to that it seems the most "normal-looking" to me. I love the uniformity of their bodies (they have various poses but their physique is always the same) combined with the variation of their colour schemes.
 
G1 is my favorite because it's the one I grew up with. I also appreciate that in all it's 10 years the only times it bothered re-releasing ponies was the very original ones during the first 2 years and then some of the so softs were ponies that had already been in the line. Aside from that it was 10 years of new unique ponies all the time to look forward to!
 
G3. I grew up with it. And I like their body shape a lot better, but that's probably just bias and what I'm used to.
 
Could have sworn I typed up something similar to this some months back, but g3's all the way.

Reason is, I feel they're the perfect balance/proportions of pony design. G1's were a but bulky and could be ugly in some cases, while g2's/g3.5's/g4's looked like anorexic hybrid something-er-rathers. They looked more like exotic animals than ponies, is what I'm getting at I suppose.
 
G1 hands down. The G3's come in close second because they're so similar, but the G1's remind me of childhood. And they look way more like real ponies than the G3.5's and the G4's. The G2's scared me the first time I saw them. Just a little creepy looking.
 
As much as I love the G1s, G2s probably are - and always will be - my favorite generation. I love it when ponies are drawn in semi-realism, and the G2s nail that perfectly. They look so graceful.

G1's because I also grew up in the 80's watching the show and collecting them and not much has changed.
 
I've always loved the G1 ponies since I was a little girl and I love the G3 ponies too because they look similar.

I bet there's some girls out there who had G3.5 as their first ponies and just haven't gravitated here yet. Because I think we're all biased to favor our first ponies :)
 
My favorite generation when it comes to the toys are hands down (hooves down?) generation 1. I never grew up with them though (I'm 17 and only got into MLP in 2011), but they're my favorites. They're the perfect size, in my opinion, and there's a wide range of variety, and all the poses defiantly add to that.

Though, I do love every generation. G1's just my favorite. I'd say G3 is my 2nd favorite, and G2, 3.5, and 4 are tied. Please note that this is only based on the quality and variety of the toys. And, I do get most excited upon finding a G2, because they seem to be the rarest to find in my experience, which is only why I have three so far.

As for the cartoons, it would have to be generation four. It's what got me into My Little Pony in the first place, and FiM is just a great show overall.
