Toy Fair pics to be posted TONIGHT! *now up!!*

LOL, exactly! i mean, the point of toy fair is for manufacturers to persuade retailers to continue ordering their products, right? that's not a very persuasive display, hasbro. the ponyville stuff is cute, and clearly a lot of people will go nuts over the collector ponies, but the rest of that stuff is just BIZARRE and will certainly end up in the clearance bin.

Total agreement here. That stuff was strange and not appealing...other than the retro collection (and sitting pony), which are pony ponies with actual hair. I personally don't like the chibis, they seem cheap. Nor do I think people are gonna be clamoring for those expensive weird things. Some rearing ponies, boys, and babies would have been good, not that stuff.
 
:scratch: Maybe some pictures are missing?? I went through these last night and just wasn't blown over like I thought I would be. We get more excited getting updates from BILL! Such a shame. How long is this fair? Maybe they have more things that they didn't show the first day. I'm just trying to figure out where the line is going. Hmmm...

I'm disappointed too. I was hoping to see a unicorn or pegasus or something :? I am happy that their is now a official sitting G3 and I do plan on buying those collector ponies.

Me too. There wasn't really anything "new". Does that mean that Bill has already brought us news of the entire upcoming year of ponies? :?

I love the retro repacks and will be buying those, but I was hoping to see more new G3's as well. The ice cream truck is cute, but I don't buy playsets so I'll pass on that.

I was thinking they looked foreighn but maybe more like Brazillians! I'll be buying them and maybe the sitting pony but all in all its a pretty disappointing offering IMHO :(
 
Does anyone else think this signals the end of the G3 line looming very near? What a completely empty showing. Not even a set of real ponies. I think it's going to be over very, very shortly.

I agree with you completely. Here's what I had to say over on the Arena:

I've been worrying about this for a while, and so the lack of new ponies at the toy fair really worries me as well. G3 selection at just about every store in my area has been horrible, and the pony section is TINY! And Toys R Us is getting rid of them. All the new stuff we've been seing pics of lately is in European packaging, or coming out only in Europe, which is similar to how the G1s were dicontinued in the US but kept going in Europe. There's so much focus on Ponyville lately, and since I've noticed that the LPS section seems to be three times the size of the pony section in most stores, that perhaps Hasbro is trying to market the G3s to cash in on the LPS success rather than keeping it uniquie. For all we know, G3 sales have been crap, and LPS sales have been great, so Hasbro is trying to save the G3 line by copying another of their lines that makes money. So yeah, I'm scared that we are going to stop seeing new regular ponies in the US, and see mostly Ponyville stuff, and the Europeans will still get new G3s for a while longer and then it will taper off over there as well.

So yeah, the crappy selection at the toy fair this year only seems to support my fears that the G3s are on the way out.

And yes, I realize that this is all just speculation and expecting the worst, but I haven't seen much lately to reassure me

Yeah I agree, I was just thinking as I looked at the Ponyville sets in Target that they would overwhelm and outphase regular ponies. I'm not sure how disappointed I am yet.

I do, however, fully approve of the G1 things. But am I the only one who can't figure out how big they are? Regular pony size or not? Or whether they're made of vinyl? They look kind of shiny and hard.

I will buy them no matter what, I'm just having trouble figuring out what they really look like.
 
I hate to feel like a sourpuss, but I really am not that impressed by the idea of the collector's set in original G1 molds. I guess if you don't have them already it's a neat idea, but I have my originals - why do I need these?

I don't know, I'm pretty disappointed in their showing too. I hope it doesn't mean the new line is dying out. I guess I'll have to keep posted and keep up my buying so I don't have to scramble later.
 
Yeah, that's how I feel about them too. I was hoping they'd be different, not the exact same ponies we already have.

But Hasbro never said they'd be releasing them as G3s, or modified from the original molds, so I guess I can't be annoyed with them for that. I was just...hoping... :cry:

As a male collector, i really hope for it! 8) it would be great if some of those female ponies in Ponyville had boyfriends..! :wink:
And i really can't understand why some of you say NO to boy ponies. It's a little offensive for me...
From the other hand, everyone has it's taste ands opinion! :wink:

Looked more closely at the pics. Why do hI have a big lump in my chest "saying the 25th Ann. is the end." I mean the Ponyville sets are cute. But I like th regular ponies better. The sitting pony doesn't really I have a pretty pose like Bubbles & Seashell. *Crosses fingers* Hopefully they'll have more new ponies instead of releases.
