Sailor Moon Customs Swap - Round 2 ~ CLOSED - July 2009

It's ok pinkerton. When I get ready to start organizing round 3, I'll be sure to send you a message. It'll probably take place in late June, early July.
 
I've order hair from Dollyhair and I'm about to rip apart my bait pony :p

Too bad my apoxie sculpt is at my boyfriend's house... grr...

1 character I came across during the signups, seemed really cool and I wanted to attempt making a custom of her.
And sweet, I end up getting paired with the member who listed her :D

I'm working on partner signups now and I'll be pming you guys later on today with your partner & their mailing address.

I just want to add, that if you are not good at scuplting or sewing, that I do have another option available for you guys. If you are good at symbol work and rehairing, you can do a basic pony with a symbol to represent that character. But if you do this method, please be sure to make at least 2 customs for your partner. This should equal it out to if your partner can do sculpting and/or sewing. Do you guys think this option is fair enough?

That's a tough decision. :tongue:
I think it would depend on the detail that was put into the rest of the figure. Just for an example; Sailor Moon.
Paint her moon symbol on her butt. No sailor outfit. But her hair is gorgeous and the ordangos are perfect. Add some little touches here and there, like gems, tiara, brooch, etc.
Not just mane, tail, and painted symbol. Little extras all around.
I think that would be acceptable, personally.
But the way I'm talking, they would sculpt the little things, like the tiara.
So I guess I just messed this entire answer up.

You're on the right track. I'm open to everyone's comments on it. I was thinking if someone just did a rehair and added a symbol and that was it. But if they do those little touches all over, I don't think it'd be too bad either.
 
I think that, as Willow said, if the rehairing and styling was amazing, then that would make up a lot for the non-sculpting/sewing. As for extras here and there, instead of sculpting, they could be done in several different ways, such as being painted on (i.e. tiara painted, then glue a little gem on it type thing), or some people are really good at metal work, etc.

But if it's a symbol paint and rehair, I don't know, really. Some people are amazing at painting and will make the symbol something breathtaking - others will make a very simple symbol, which I don't think is particularly "fair" so to speak for others who are putting much more time into it.

I think at the end of it all, what's most important is the time spent on the custom. A rehair and a simple symbol paint won't take nearly as long as a sculpt/sew, paint and rehair, but a rehair and a really intricate symbol just might.

Hhmm... I don't think that helped :p
 
Progress Update:

Partners have been assigned & mailing addresses given out. Have fun everyone!
 
Just an FYI: I am having surgery on the 9th in a city about 2 hours from my house so I will keep working on my custom but I probably won't have internet access!

I am excited to get going on this!
 
Oh wow, I loved Sailor Moon growing up!! I can't wait to see what everyone creates! :] -sits back and watches-

I made one already, although its not a character my partner wants. so now I have to wait for my hair and ponies to show up to make one.

Aww, starblaze! I had figured you were just too busy. I'll be your partner and do another private swap with you if you'd like. ^_^v I'm needing to hunt for material now to finish up one set of twins.
 
No problem for the update! I am waiting for the hair to come in and then I am all set and ready!!! I got a huge thing of baits, so I have a lot to play around with.
 
I found some of the stuff I need and I am prepping my bait and my hair is on the way! I am hoping to get this one done fairly quickly, so I can to a round 2 of round 2!
 
^_^v Glad that everyone is having fun. I am a bit behind myself and just now ordered my hair. But everything else is almost done with the sculpting. I may sign up too for a part 2 of round 2. Let's see how this goes.
 
Update on my progress so far:

Sculpting: 95% done
Painting: 95% done
Sewing: 50% done
Rehairing: 0% - awaiting hair

I may be up for part II of round II, too :D

But of course, rehairing is what kills me - I may run out of stamina by that point :p
