Once upon a time, a girl and her mother were riding in the car on the way home from running some errands.
"So mom! you know that picture I drew? I'd really like to make it into a custom!" The daughter chirps, idly flicking the channels on the radio.
The weariness of the subject is clear in her eyes, but before the daughter could apologetically change the topic of conversation, the mother answers, "Really? I really liked it. How are you going to make it?"
The daughter brightens up, and cheerfully responds. "Well, I've heard about this really cool place online where you can buy pony hair, just like the hair they give to the Hasbro ponies!"
"Really? You can't just buy it from Michael's?" The mother asks, glancing up from the road. "They sell doll hair, right?"
"Well, the hair they sell isn't as shiny or soft, and people online--"
"At that Pony TP place, right?"
"Yeah, the MLPTP! They talk about how pony hair is easier to work with, and has lots more colors to choose from."
"Hmm, that sounds good." Despite her lack of knowledge (or interest) in the subject, the mother retains all of what she is told, and responds warmly to all of her daughter's eager chatter on the subject.
She listens peaceably as her daughter continues to gab about her favorite hobby, occasionally adding in her own words of wisdom or suggestions for the girl's upcoming projects. Despite the fact that most of her family is tired of the pony-talk, her mother continues to listen politely, and even makes conversation about the daughter's favorite hobby.
Eventually, the conversation moves on to other things (as all conversations do), but the daughter will always remember fondly how patiently her mother listened to her endless supply of "pony talk," even when she was sick and tired of the little four-legged critters.
There's my entry! :] I love my whole family, of course, but today reminded me especially why I love my mommy. She's so patient with me and my ponies, hehe! And hey, it's a pony site; might as well make it related to ponies! :] Thanks for putting on this contest! Happy Valentine's Day!
