Gaia the Goddess

I guess we should go ahead and put pants on all the ponies then since they're running around naked.

It's a beautiful custom, an exquisite homage to an ancient goddess. Don't worry.. ignorance can't ever really be helped.

she was pulled from the arena for being too graphic.

I think she is made tastefully, it's very much a shame they pulled her.

Very very well done! Congrats.

Too bad she got pulled at the Arena... I think she looks great. Not my thing, really, but really awesome, all the same! *Hugs*

Some people just don't know what tasteful art is :D It's like PoniesYeah's anthro nudes, which always seem to get the mod smackdown on Arena (or used to, anyway...I don't think they still do).

Anyway, this is a gorgeous custom, and I love her elegant colors. Great job as usual! ;)

I think she is a wonderful representation of ancient artwork and you have added a delightful modern twist with the colours you have used.

I think she is beautiful.

If something like this... a simple nude... is censored, why are overtly and obviously sexual customs with stockings, panties, garters, makeup... why are they not questioned?

Sorry to make that comment in your thread, but I agree with Cobralily about needing to roll eyes here.

I think she is wonderful and I am sure your friend will adore her.

Good point!

What the heck, I don't want to stick on the negative aspect, but I'm just seriously perplexed as to why a pony in direct homage to a world-renowned work of art and icon of culture is being looked at like: "gross, nakie!" I am very put off by the thought that you can't have anyone look at or compliment you on this gorgeous pony over there, and her freaking awesome symbol, which I think was done perfectly! *Explodes*

I think it's the labia majora they find offensive. Like that's not something they see every time they look down.
my thoughts exactly.

and i think from a society standpoint kids would be better off seeing nakedness then decapitations.

re

She is not offensive her symbol is a little weird but I like her she is very nice and very pretty nicely done.
Star :)

Thank you so much everyone! Pookie, please don't apologize for your comment, I am very happy to hear what you think!

I agree, we have very sexualized ponies on both sites and there are plenty of pretty gory ones too - think of the last Zombie pony and the evil doctor / nurse ponies. I liked thos customs, but I mean, if we're going to 'protect the children' I think those should have been pulled too.

Personally, I would show this pony to a two year old. I work in the field of preventing child sexual abuse and I think being honest and open with children about their bodies, their rights, and healthy sexuality is really critical to protecting them from being abused. I mean, I'd rather a little child see and ask questions about Gaia than see the Moulin Rouge customs and make assumptions about the female form and sexuality from those. But I wouldn't censor those customs either, because I would welcome talking to children about the objectification of women, how some women have reclaimed society's notion of 'sexy', and what it all means.

I have a great deal of respect for the intelligence and integrity of children - I personally believe sheltering them from something like this is counterproductive.

i think she's wonderful!! purple is such a passionate color, and i feel it's perfect for a fertility goddess!! :D wonderful job on her!! and my son (who is 3) likes her too, lol, he said "look, mommy, there's a mommy on the pony!"

She's great! Heh, as soon as I saw her, I totally had a flashback to art history class and studying the Venus of Willendorf.

Totally seconded :D

I remember the same figurine from Art History :)

Kids would be better off seeing this custom rather than the previously mentioned corseted, fishnet, bondage, crap loads of make up, etc.

Seriously, really think about which is more damaging and inappropriate.

Re:

I think she's stunning. Why people would be offended by what also has been made into a statue for 1000's of years and is a work of art I have no clue.

Besides, isn't there an agelimit on these boards? I think anyone over 13 is mature enough to handle to look at an ancient piece of art on a pony ;)
