Do you like the generation 4 pony toys?

I think Hasbro is also missing the mark by not making a line of male ponies. Sombra, Big Mac, Dr Whooves (or Time Turner if you prefer)... I'd really like a line of brushable males again. The Big Brothers were so nice, and actually had something of a male demeanor to them.

I don't know if it's a lack of foresight or sheer cheapness that has them making the Mane Six over and over in the same few poses. It couldn't cost that much more to have some more sculpts made and issue some new ponies.

As several said, Snowcatcher is really lovely. What could it hurt to put out some new ponies for us to enjoy, even if they aren't tied into the show? I particularly like Dewdrop Dazzle and Feathermay, and don't care if they're used in the programme or not. I just want pretty ponies to play with. I'm afraid the line will peter out if they just keep pushing a few characters and don't expand the line to appeal more to us as collectors rather than the fans of the cartoon.

I have a personal love for them as they got me into ponies again, and I quite like the style of them. I like having something small that can easily into my pocket.

However, I don't like the re-releases. Without even trying I have four Rarities, all on my pony shelf >.< I love it when they make non mane six characters. I can see why they are doing it, but maybe give us six unique characters too so if we don't want another Pinkie Pie, we can get a Big Mcintosh or a Lyra Heartstrings or whatever.

I only started collecting near the end of the wedding singles so I only have Trixie, Lyra, Cheerilee and daisy dreams as my non mane six/non princess/ non cmc ect ponies. IT's a bit annoying as if I got into ponies sooner I'd have more variety instead of four rarities.

I wouldn't mind the mane six rereleases if there were more unique ponies. It annoys me when I have to buy another mane six pony simply to custom her so I have a more unique pony to put on my shelf >.>

Well, I started with G4, so they are my first love, but I'm getting into the earlier Ponies now after joining the forums.

I agree that we need more variety in the Brushables. I think they are trying, in the middle of all the Mane 6 at WalMart I always see 1 or 2 new girls. I'd like to see more boy Pony brushables, too. I have Shining Armor from the Wedding Castle, but I'd like to find enough boys to do customs. With any toy based on a cartoon, you're going to see the main show characters repeat in every assortment, it's just the nature of modern toys.

The Blind Bags are excellent for variety, and they are finally doing a show-accurate Fluttershy. Did you all see the MLP Monopoly Game? It's got Blind Bag-sized Mane 6 with show accurate manes and tails. I found my game on Amazon.

I love the Equestria Girls dolls, and I'm really looking forwards to the "Rainbow Rocks" versions.

I grew up with G1, but my true loves are G3s--they're just so gorgeous to me. I still love the G1 boys and some of the G1 poses, but G3 will always be the fav for me.

That said, I love the show. I think FIM is creative, well written, has great characters and some great lines. I'm not a fan of the art though. I like the princess body design, but the regular pony body looks odd to me. I do have several of the FIM toys, but I'm pretty meh about collecting the brushables. I had a brief passion for collecting the blindbags (though I have no idea why) but I'm pretty much over than now. I just pick up what appeals to me as far as toys go. Mostly blue or teal unicorns. I probably would buy brushable boys if they offered them in singles (I do have Shining Armor though).

I complain about buying the same ponies over and over and what do I do today? Buy the set with yet *another* Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, just because I wanted the bathtub and accessories!

I think I need help. :p

I like the princess body design, but the regular pony body looks odd to me.

Same here! Would love Nightmare Moon one day, she appeals to my preference for darker things.

I went to look at the toys in Asda out of curiosity and I think I stood staring dumbly for a couple of minutes because they're so tiny!

I think my other problem with them is they don't look pony-like to me. I only got into my G1 collection this year (it skipped me as a kid as I was more into "real" looking horses - Barbie's and Sindy's, etc) and they look pony-like at least. I think it's the G4's head/ears/muzzle that throws me every time.

Don't care too much for them. Very cheap and with no quality. Hasbro is very pathetic! Plus I still have a problem with the fact that they really don't look like ponies but a weird mutant.

This. They do not look like ponies at all, they look like super deformed ultra kawaii horses gone very wrong. Which is a shame, I'm a sucker of black and dark ponies and some the G4 have that same color scheme but they are shaped so oddly that I can't get into them at all.

Never watched the tv show either.

I agree with the OP pretty much about everything. Lack of alternate poses, constant reproduction of the main characters... I agree that there should be more poses and more characters, much like how the generation 1 production of toys were.

I can also understand budget. If the company is cutting costs by reusing minimal molds, and producing only the most popular of characters... I can definitely see how that would benefit the company.

What I like about the generation 4 toys, is for my anime character custom ponies.

When buying g4 figures, I pretty much pick them out for both of my kids (6 year old and 2 year old) and I keep a steady supply on-hand for whenever I need to make a custom from one.

Other than that I pretty much stock up on the new Princess molds they keep churning out, and keeping them in supply in my bait box for that perfect anime character custom pony to create it from

I like them- I really didn't care for the style at first, but I finally watched the cartoon and it was cute, and after that I couldn't resist the toys.

I do prefer the Fashion Style size (6" size) to the tiny size though. I imagine that they cut the size of the "playful size" or whatever because quite frankly, the cost of making toys has gone way up and people aren't willing to pay more for little plastic ponies. So Hasbro shrunk them to decrease production costs. It's too bad but I think it's because pony fans/collectors/moms simply resist paying more than five bucks for a pony.

The price of the fashion style size did make me hesitate at first- but the smaller ponies really are just too small. I do wish though that they had more variety, and don't love the style of the FS wings. I'm pretty excited about the GIANT Styling size ponies too- hope they do lots more than just Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie...

Oh and OP they did finally make Fluttershy in her own mold- you have seen that one?

Theres this one too- although this pack hasn't been released yet. http://derpicdn.net/img/2013/9/23/433210/full.jpg

Lightning,

That's such a cool idea. I'd like to do some anime Pony customs myself. :smilepony:

Not to mention I loved how the G3 line had exclusive holiday ponies. Now when the G4 line started there was a Valentine Pinkie Pie and Easter Fluttershy.... but that was it...

How about some special Winter/Christmas ponies Hasbro???

Yes! A winter themed Minty would be tops on my list!

I notice they did Christmas/winter themed colouring books, but the dirty rats just re-used art from other MLP colouring books then cut and pasted scarves, caps and presents into the pictures. Why must they be so darn cheap? I'm giving them my money, what else do they want?

I'm a filthy hippy and even I'm tired of their recycling.

As many people have already said, the lack of poses is disappointing. Is Hasbro trying to save money or something? I do love the blind bag ponies. :satisfied:
I don't know about anyone else, but I would love a plush pony that was floppy and didn't stand up. More cuddly that way. :)

Should totally go for it! I'd love to see them. :satisfied:

G4's just have the perfect proportions for certain characters; small bodies, large heads, large eyes, small mouths... then the Princess poses are great for the slender adult anime characters

I remember buying the G3's and the G1's at their time of release.... and we are paying the same amount for less toy. So that's definitely not the case. Hasbro can be a little less cheap on the size and packaging factor, here.

I will, thanks for the inspiration. :) I need another Brushable Celestia, or Pinklestia, and I'm planning on turning her into Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier. I hope they make a G4 male Pegasus soon, I have a great idea to do Max and Milia Jenius from Macross/Macross 7 as Blue/Red Pegasi. Hmm, maybe I'll just get an extra Shining Armor and do some sculpting....

Anyhoo, I'm going to grab Celestia or Pinklestia payday. Watch for a customizing thread. :smilepony:

Oh, I have Shining Armor. :) I might just get another one and perform some surgery. Folded wings would be easy to sculpt, I suppose.

Let me start a "Customs" thread for my project ideas and I'll show y'allwhat Sheryl, Max, and Milia look like. :)
