2011 MLP Fair Wrap up! Share your photos & memories in Show & Tell!

Quick Question: If you are not interested in purchasing a make your own lunch thing, are you allowed to bring your own lunch and eat it at Hasbro where people eat the bring your own lunch thing? I wasn't sure if they allow outside food like movie theaters. I'd rather have a tuna sandwhich or peanut butter and jelly.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

Question about the contests...
What are the prizes? Someone said on the arena that you just got raffle tickets. Is that true? I am not sure I want to put hours into working on something only to get a raffle ticket I could have bought for a dollar.
That sounds so bad I really can't believe it's true! So what are the prizes? (not specifically if they are a surprise...just a broad answer is fine. Rare HTF ponies, Big blank ponies, cash)
I am interseted in entering I just want to be sure I have a chance at something I would want!
 
I know it is not really much of a prize, but would you be interested in winning a medal (or a custom trophy) for the contests?
 
Last year the prizes for the custom contests were ribbons (I won one). The winners of games got raffle tickets, as far as I remember. Not sure if there is a different plan this year, but that was what happened last year.
 
That is dissapointing. No saddly that doesn't interest me. I will still enter the custom and one art contest, but I am not going to enter some of the others now.
The MD meet for example gave out a mexican varient pony for hte custom contest and a mountain boy for another prize. Just having a ribbon is very dissapointing. I was discussing this with some other members last week and we all thought there would be something amazing for prizes since it's the biggest gathering of pony collectors.
Oh well.

The rosettes last year were huge, and GORGEOUS. They had My Little Pony Fair printed on them, were rainbow colored and had 4 tails.

I'd choose a unique prize like that any day (and hang it proudly upon my MLP shelves) over a pony I could buy for myself on ebay.

LOL! I am very glad you are excited. I am not really coming for the prizes anyway...just the good friends and fun! (PLUS trading of course!!!!)

But there is something exciting about working towards a better prize! I was going to spend about 150 dollars making an amazing costume for that contest for example, but I just can't justify that for a ribbon. I am just the bratty kid that wants it all I guess! But I am not the only one. Others have told me the same.
I am not judgeing...it's not my fair and I certainly did not put any money in the hat, I am sure it's very very expensive to run. I am just personally dissapointed.

I guess I am just spoiled by the awsomeness of the MD meets!

My friend got a notice in her email saying the fair is on June 8th and only a few weeks away. However, the fair website says July 8th and we've been told that from the beginning, after they changed it. I figured you guys should know. I'm not sure who sent out the notice but there's a mistake there. :)

Maybe your friend misunderstood the email?

The email notice I received said:
"Can you believe it is almost June? The Fair is just a few weeks away!"
Then it went on to say that lunch reservations & special requests must be made by June 8th. I didn't see any place where is said the Fair was on June 8th. I don't think that there's anything to worry about. ;)

Yes there will be a pony although we are not releasing what it looks like yet.

What we did this past year for winners of games was that we had separate prizes which were raffled off to winners (separate from the ones you buy--meaning you could only be in the raffle if you won or if you participated) you would get a ticket for participating in something but you would get like 10 if you won--upping your chances. I assume this is what we will be doing again or something very similar.

I think there will be a lot of great prizes this year and we may have individual prizes for some winners or games/customs but it's just not feasible at this point to have 10+ or more rare expensive prizes.

Does anyone still need roommates? My husband purposefully waited too long to request off the weekend because he doesn't want to go, despite me telling him that I needed his help. So since I'm not comfortable hauling a camper from PA to RI, I need to make different lodging arrangements.

And I'll probably need help at my booth with hair matches for the website.

I'm going to see if my mom wants to come, but we'll still need somewhere to stay.

Cool! Is there a campground around there? I was going to look into it.

I wanted to go TENT camping- I love roughing it!
