Hey cats and dogs!
I'm about to embark on a crunch corse of anatomy. No im not taking a class or any life drawing work shops. I'm too poor and there arent any around. So I'm holding my own. I'm gonna simply take a week and focus on nothing but anatomy.
This is the internet after all there are plenty of figures and life drawing worthy nudes out there to use. And DA has plenty in great poses, angles and lighting.

SO! Here is what I propose. Those who want to join me raise your hand.

It is entirely possible to see an improvement in a tiny week (in talkin 5 day work week here) not only will this be a solid week of drawing figures but I"ll use it to track my progress and so can you.
today being friday will give me today, saturday and sunday to record anyone who joins in.
Come sunday evening or monday morning I and whoever is with me will post a picture at their current expertise. This doesnt have to be people either, if youve been wanting to improve your horses then post a sha-nene the way you draw them now.
Take this chance to improve on any anatomy you've been wanting to work on.
Then come monday we start the crunch. This is where dicipline will come in. drop your pony art and personal fun art for one week and focus 100% on the anatomy. For me I'll be doing the poor mans life drawing and focus on the nudes I find.
To really make this work you should do several sketches(the rough quick as you can kind) and a handful of finished sketches, complete with rendering. It doesnt have to be a perfect work of art it is still a sketch after all. the point to learn the form and build up some looseness.
This goes on for a week, come friday we post a new and fresh version of the pic we posted on monday.
I'd like it if we could post the anatomy sketching we do through the week too, and Im sure we can as long as we edit out any naughty bit.

Is this clear? Does it make sense?

WHOS WITH ME?

and let me mention that you can work on improving anything from people to animals just as long as its anitomical.

YAY! And the list begins:
1. Poniesyeah
2. Sunnyrain
3. Mysia

OK Here is my Before sketch. This guy is a current character were working with. Im pretty stiff and at a lose for dramatic or action/dynamic poses. Pluse my ability with the male figure is pretty limited. So ill be focusing a little more on men and muscles n' such

SO... TAG YOUR IT! Time you post your befores!! Please have them up by Monday evening at the latest. And remember we officialy start or study tomorrow when you pick up a pencil.
Its up to you as to how much you do. This is where the focus and diciplin comes in. The more you do the more you gain.
I've set my nightly limit to 13 fast sketches and three finished.

I'll you periodicly as I'll probably post my days progress.

DO YOUR BEST!

Day 1 is complete for me, see you again tomorrow.

Day 3. Sorry didnt get a chance to get this and day 4 up till now. I decided to take a little break from drawing men and peniees. I also need to learn how to draw flying squirles (another part on our WIP comic) And you stuck witht he nasty yellowing. I forgot to put some weight on the scanner to make the book sit flat. Its so darn big... Your only seeing half of what on the page.

tentative hand raising..
I gotta be in all next week anyway cos of builders in my house so I might actually be able to do this.. (its been a loooooong while..)

sounds interesting! it's not often i'm able to draw something i actually like, but i want to be able to do more fanart so maybe if i improve my figure-drawing skills (ESPECIALLY guys), i'll feel more confident in my work. :3

You sure will! I'm tallin ya figure drawing is a foundation.
Before you can draw caricature (I dont mean the kind you get at theme parks of yourself for a funny take home) of a person or animal you need to know HOW to draw a person or animal. it was a big point in my arena interview.

If you ever do it again, I'll certainly like to join, but I just can't this time. I don't think many people would be happy if I push some of these projects off another week. :/

Aww CM...
how about mearly doing a couple or takin a half hour a day?

but yeah odds are I'll do it again.

I'll tentatively try it...I'm going back to school this week, so my main focus is that, but I'll give it a shot

THATA RIGHT FOLKS!! Dont be shy!
If you dont see the improvment you think will happen at lease you'll better understand the point you need to focus in on.

we can't get worse. we'll only go forward.

So, I assume our first image is without references right? :)

...wow, looking at what i just drew i have a LOT of room for improvement. :(

well then look forward to the end of next week.
IF everyone is up to it we can do cretiques(yes yes, i know its wrong) too.

Ok, I'll try it. Maybe in the meantime, I'll learn to keep a regular schedule artwise. :p

What if you have no drawing talent whatsoever? Can you still join up?

Sure. By the end you'll have something more than you started with.

*pokes her nose in*
I'll give it a whirl, but I can't promise the everyday thing...School projects are coming up. I do love to draw though and I'm a big fan of yours poniesyeah, so I'll try. Plus, I think I've been slipping as of late. Did you want us to draw a picture right away, or is it ok to use one from a few days ago?

Its best to do a brandy new drawing. that way you have definite starting point.

And honestly mama the more you do and the fact that you do it everyday will increase the chances of your potential improvement. You can set yourself at either a certain number of sketches a day or a time limit.
for instance you can set a limit of 3 sketches a day or sketching for a half hour.

Me personally, I'm setting myself at 12 quick roughs and three finished a day.
The more you do the more you grow. I urge you to do as much as you can and every day for those five days. Even if its all just unrendered quickies, at least you'll have done something for that day.

I'm in, I could always use the practice. Now to decide whether to do humans or ponies. hmmmmmmmmm
