Who likes re-hairing?

ive got my own custom tool i made myself that makes life a bit easyer, but lets just say i have some rehairs to do from about 2 years ago that ive put off....

I would definitely recommend getting pop's tool. It was VERY user friendly.

(I used it for a while but have gone back to wire/knot method cause it looks cleaner.)

I am not a fan of rehairing either. Although I have found that it is easier for me to rehair a G3 than it is to do a G1. Which stinks since I like making G1 customs more. lol

I think that may be one of my problems... I have the dollyhair tool, I'm starting to hate it... I think I'm going to buy one of pop's

I've got the Dollyhair tool too. Are you using the smallest needle it came with? I had the larger of the two in it at first and it drove me CRAZY (even with using the push pin to widen the holes). The needle kept getting shoved into the metal handle. I switched to the smallest needle and it's MUCH easier.

I just realized I never answered your original question. :)

Do I like re-hairing? Sorta. I like it better the more practice I get with it. It still takes me longer than I think it should, but I think that will improve the more I do it.

love love love hairing and i have reasonable prices for doing it for you ;) sometimes i'ma a lil slow but that's just cause i have 3 kids with me at home

Ugh I have the same problem with the need slipping into the handle. Not sure which needle I'm using now because I've switched between them before a couple times. They both give me grief.

I think I got the tool because I figured it was a great deal if I bought enough hair with it for free shipping. I just wish I had known because I feel like I wasted my money on something that discourages me :(

If the needle is slipping back into the handle, you'll need to tighten the chuck further with pliers or something. I only ever have problems with slipping when I rehair a styling pony because they're so hard. Make sure one prong of the needle's open eye is longer than the other and insert that side first, then use that longer side to guide the shorter side in. You shouldn't be putting both prongs in at once, as that can/will cause slipping back into the handle.

LOL I'm on the same needle I had years ago when I got the dh tool, too, which isn't a needle provided with the tool.

I like it more these days since I switched from doing all single knots to threading the hair through two holes. I actually did try the top down punch method for a Sparkle Baby whose neck ring was still tight and I didn't want to mess with removing it for three plugs. It was okay, but I can't see myself changing how I rehair at this point. I'm old and set in my ways. ;)

Of course, when I started I was using kanekalon hair, which breaks, and then saran, which seemed to deform and snap if I pulled too hard. The nylon hair has made all the difference to my enjoyment. I was wash the hair and get it under control in a jiffy and not have to go back and remove a bunch of "split ends" from the rehair. Plus it comes in so many pretty colors.

I like to reahir :eek:mg:
I have one of the tools that was made by a member here, who has since gone MIA. I forget their name, but I had the tool for a few years now. Its a wooden one that says MLP on it
