How about when the plug holes get closed up ?
I'm working on a custom and rehairing just frustrates me, plus I think the plugs are shrinking...

When I re-hair I always have a pushpin on hand. I use it to open up the hole and leave it in there while I'm putting the hair in the needle. I take it out just before pushing the new hair in.

Ditto! Push pins are extremely useful! I use the wire/thread method too, so it takes forever, but it is very secure (no glue required). You could try warming up the head before doing a round of re-hairing too, since it will make the plastic more pliable... I have also purposefully split plugs (basically making 2 plugs into 1) and then skipped the next plug on some ponies (G1's) where they are tiny and close together, otherwise I've found that they split anyway and I'm lift with a giant crack.

I love love love rehairing =D

Star_Flare's right though, push pin = necessity XD

HATE REHAIRING!! SEV SMASH!!

But seriously...I hate rehairing.

If I ever start making customs like I someday hope to (in my imagination at least) I am sure I will learn to hate rehairing violently.

I love to rehair and am trying my first round at making extra holes (more than just the normal 2 lines) I find it very soothing and calming. I agree with the pushpin thing! It is a must! :worthy:

*makes notes on back of hand of who likes to rehair* >.>

I don't particularly like it, but it's part of the process. I actually just had the holes close on a custom I sculpted on. I baked the head too in case the body color changed, and the holes seriously disappeared. I just used a pin to make new ones and secured the plugs with lots of Fabri-Tac.

I don't use a pushpin but a clay tool with a sharp point. It has a long handle and is easy to work with. You can get them at hobby lobby or michaels and they work great for making new plug holes or expanding old ones. Makes rehairing easier when working with a really hard headed pony. HAHA! Get it?!

Fabri-Tac is amazing. Its my go to "oh heck what just ripped!?" life-saver.

I enjoy it much, and thats without the correct supplies lol. I've always enjoyed small tedious repetitive work, I think it's calming. I usually take my needle and push it in and wiggle it a bit to streatch the hole if needed.

Ha ha I would do it for you but don't think it would be worth the postage!

Yea I'm still on the wire method but I love it, my fingers get sore and I end up with a fabric plaster on to help! And totally agree with needing a pin!

I like re-hairing, but I hate the re-hairing tool thingy. :D

I do! I also find it relaxing in an odd way. When I first started I hated it and it took FOREVER, but now it's one of my favorite parts of customizing.

I love rehairing; it's so relaxing! I used to use a thick needle for pushing through plugs; but now I use such a tough rehairing needle that I don't even need to do that anymore. I can make brand-new plugs just with my reroot needle. Makes life easier.

That said ... I have NO idea what size or brand those needles are. I buy them from pop-girl at the Arena. And she cuts them for me. Because I cannot be trusted to cut needles. VERY dangerous ...

I think that may be one of my problems... I have the dollyhair tool, I'm starting to hate it... I think I'm going to buy one of pop's
