Who are the "Oldie Moldies"?

Uh let's see I must've joined the TP in 2000 or 2001... I was a freshman in high school when I started collecting beyond what I had managed to gather as a child.

Although I've fallen out of the scene big time since college and then pretty much stopped collecting by the time I'd graduated. Didn't care for the direction of G3 and didn't have time or money to be hunting G1's so much. Now I have money but still no time and definitely no space lol

But I figured I'd post in here and say I'm amazed to see so many familiar faces are still lurking around here and hi guys and I miss y'all and maybe some day I can get back into collecting full force again.

Hi Claire!!!
Hope Julian is well sweetheart xxx

I've only been around the boards since early '06 when I was still collecting puppy in my pocket and the old littlest pet shops and didn't really get into collecting My Little Pony until June of '07 (hard to believe it's been nearly 5 years!)! I had to have a Cotton Candy as I loved her little white spots and so my collection has spawned from that. I now have nearly 1000 ponies (maybe more, haven't counted in a long time).
I've got all but a few of the entire US and UK ponies and working now on obtaining accessories and of course the nirvanas. I wasn't on any pony boards back in the day, but was on the internet since early 1999. I wish I had been a part of the forums then even though I probably couldn't have bought any. Who was this Roy and Lea? I'd love to know about the nutty stuff that went on in the early collecting site.

=)

I have been collecting since I was really small and got my first pony in 1982 when i was 2.......I knew about this board for a long time, was a member a while back but forgot all my info so started over.....lol......but yeah so i have been collecting for 30 years!!! OMG.......that kinda makes me cry........i feel OLD!....lol=)

"box hair" used to be a good thing. It was so smooth and pretty, that soft plastic ring holding it gently. Not like the firm plastic that's sewn into the hair of ponies these days. Yikes!

My first pony was Baby Moondancer. I got her in 1984 and have been collecting ever since! I was 2 at time time. For birthdays and Christmas all I ever asked for was MLP. All the way through the 90s when ponies weren't cool anymore, I didn't care! I started posting on the TP sometime in the late 90s early 2000s when I discovered Dream Valley online. (I almost died! There are other collectors out there!)

I agree with someone who said.. "we are the hardcore collectors" the reason why I feel that way is because we stayed with MLP and never stopped collecting. It took the new G3s and even the G4s (I don't think very many paid attention to the G2s) to bring some people out and then they started collected. I didn't need to be reminded how much I loved ponies by a new generation, I knew already and I never stopped!

BTW- The "I am so new I have box hair" is so cute! lol welcome young/new collectors even those with box hair ;)

Bow Tie was my first pony in 1985, the herd has continued to grow since then. I was active online in 1996, but that was for my first interest revival, Transformers and my love of Beast Wars. The Transformers community was so awesome then! Now it's so huge. I don't think any of my old Tf friends are around anymore in the TF community.

Ponies came back to light in 2000 when my interest in MLP Tales revived. I found Teddy's Place, found the links to The Quacker County Graffiti Board, CoED etc. I never looked back. I met a lot of pony collector and rpg fans through those sites, who are very dear friends to me to this day, who I keep in touch with via livejournal. Most of them don't collect actively, but still love ponies.

Since 2000, my pony collection grew well over 500 ponies, along with customs. My interest in pony artwork exploded, and to this day I can't help drawing them.

I was on the old MLPTP when it was the dark green and white unicorn style, and started posting here around 2004. I have been to several MLP meets in Michigan and Ontario (back when they existed), and loved meeting fellow collectors. I still miss it. I don't ever have the money or time to travel to the big conventions though. I remember when the MLP Fair first came into being. I remember a lot of seller scandals, and community drama. I loved being a part of several MLP RPGs, that in time faded out.

It's been sad that for about 6 years my herd has been dormant, in boxes, and I haven't bought a pony online in ages. I grew bored of G3s, and did not like the G4s at all.

Then FiM came out and I loved how fresh it made the MLP cartoon series. The toys are cool too, but I haven't been bitten by the collecting bug to buy anything. Except I want the entire FiM seasons when they come out as those sets. Not snippets.

I think a lot of us "oldies" have adapted our lives and had to move on or shift its place. I know I will never let go of MLP, but if I start a family, obviously I wouldn't be buying very expensive ponies. ;) I know some who have amassed the hugest collections I've ever seen and have started selling it all off. I have thought to do the same...MLP will always be there in my heart, and i will always keep a few around. :)

*waves* I was here in the old days of the other post as well, bit I've been pretty absent from the post due to a super busy couple of years----engagement, marriage, moving, job switch, dealing with death of a loved one----you know, the usual. ;) I've been collecting since \i was young and they were a huge part of my childhood. I love me some ponies!

I've been on the TP since it was a black and pink guestbook :)

I remember the pinwheel sigs, jaykarma(sp?) and his awesome 3D pixel ponies, the shadows, haha. I used to hang out in Dream Valley chat with Taffeta, and the old Dream Castle 'roleplay' website and and and

I loved the old days :D I don't post much anymore but whenever I get a new PC, the tp is still the first 'fave' I add to the browser.

Letseee.... Collecting ponies since 5, so that's gonna be twenty years this year.

And I've been in the community since I was 14-ish, but here since.. Um... I dunno. o_O I was on the old MLPTP at age sixteen or so. Or fifteen. So maybe um... nearly ten years?

I just never come around, though.

Collecting since 05 but I can't remember when I found this site. I am going to say around 09 or 10. I don't think I am considered an oldie moldy? But I do miss all the older members too. It's honestly why I myself haven't been around. That and I recently went on a sewing rampage.

In reference to the Father Jack pic...my husband and I just finished the Father Ted series! *high fives HulkbowSMASH*

Hi Guys! Wowie, I can't believe who's popping up out of the wood work! You know it's always lovely to see you guys and it's wonderful to know that you're all still out there somewhere still connected to us by this weird plastic pony thing we have. I do wish you'd all come by a bit more often, reminiscing aside you all have so much knowledge to share.

I started collecting when ponies began, which is a life time ago now as some of us are starting to realise. It's funny, now when I think back most of the people who brought me those ponies when I was a small quiet horse obsessed child have gone now but pick up a pony they gave me and there they are again.

I have always had ponies and have dragged them half way across the country with me. I don't really actively collect anymore money and rl being a constant restraint! But a lot of them are up on display and it give me a kick to show them to all the little kids those near and dear to me keep producing!

I didn't join the TP until 2001 as we didn't have the internet at home until then. I remember Jenn and her little green and white TP pony who was in residence then. I became a Chat mod in 2003 or early 2004 and a full mod in 2004 when SS and NK took over and moved the forums.

Funny it doesn't seem like that long ago but it is!

So nice to see all these familar old nicks again. Welcome back guys.

:bighug:

i love this. it's exactly how i feel. i remember i hardly ever went anywhere without my beloved ponies, and each and everyone of my childhood ponies bring back a thousand memories :)

love your post nat ^^

I collected as a child from 1985 to 1991 and started collecting again in 1999, where I discovered the newsgroup and the original MLPTP. I was VERY active back then.

In 2004 I moved out of home and suddenly lacked the space and income for collecting so I fell out of the loop quite a bit.

I had over 500 ponies at the peak of my collecting. I've already sold off some ponies and will soon be selling again, trying to get the collection down to a manageable 150 or so.

Hey,you people must share your tales of ancient *online* times with others!Good or bad,all is interesting^^
