There are a number of HQG1C ponies that employ head swaps to try to freshen up the pony poses a bit. I admit some of them still make me squint and think 'something isn't right here' but that's just because I'm sooo used to the original poses as they were.

All for various reasons. I know one of the cotton candy's has mold inside that I haven't been able to get out (though I don't know the proper way to do so) and the SS North Star has some chew marks on the bottom of one foot and normal flocking loss.

Wow, those are very different colored Cotton Candy's!

Hauled out my bait box. Got some projects that were started, but are currently halted until who-knows-when. A few I still have ideas/plans for, most just have had their symbols wiped, but I have no ideas on what to do with them yet.

That deer type creature and the pink one with the moulded saddle look super interesting (top pic).

The moulded saddle pony I just need to decide on hair colours + order them, pretty much. The deer-type creature I want to make into a sort-of kirin-type creature, which means I want to apply fimo/sculpey to the tube + horns for sculpting, but I'm also trying to figure out how to thread hair through the tail after it's baked (the dental floss you can see in the image) - if that would even work.

I would love to see a kirin pony :O

The kirin pony sounds awesome but I’d be hesitant to bake that tube! Are you wanting to make a tufted tail with hair? What you could try is rolling out a snake of clay, then poke a tool into the end and sculpt it out into a slight trumpet shape with a space inside. Then sculpt the top end, pose the tail, bake. When you’re ready to hair it, make a tail stub by layering the tips of hair fibers into hot glue. A piece of parchment (silicone treated) baking paper pinched around it will help you manipulate the hot glue without burning yourself. Keep rubbing the hair tips with the hot point and layering hair in until you have enough all squished together in the glue. Then you can heat the whole thing back up again and glue it into the end of the tail.

It would also potentially work just to have your hair ends all nicely lined up in a stump like a cut off ponytail, apply glue inside the space at the end of the tail, and push the whole stump in at once, let it dry or cool, and brush out whatever didn’t stick.

You gotta take her head off and stick her in oxy clean, that'll get the mould out! Then I personally clean the inside of the legs with a toothbrush, the pony goes all soft in the warm water and that makes it easier. Drip dry the pony for a few days with the head off before you put her back together.

Maybe if I bake it at a low enough heat, or I get an air-hardening clay for that part in particular... c_c; I'm still at a loss as to how to secure the threads inside the body afterwards! ^_^;;

Your method sounds interesting, but I'd be afraid of the glue eventually breaking down or it not sticking. Maybe if I made the hollow for the tail stub long enough, the glue would have more surface to hold on to. And maybe get a thin sort of clasp or something to fit all the hair for the tail into, rather than gluing it all... hmmm...

I can verify that hot glue will hold onto nylon hair at least as long a couple decades, lol. I still have some old pony tails I made that way. Hot glue adheres pretty aggressively to materials with a texture, so if you rough up the interior surface of the tail before baking, you should get a perfectly good grip. It’s just difficult to get a second stab at it if you miss the mark when lining up your two sides. You’d need to warm it back up with a hair dryer or preferably a heat gun.

You’d want a somewhat deep hollow to hide the glued portion of the hair anyhow. I’d say at least a centimeter.

You could actually try making a stub out of some reject pony hair trimmings and see what you think, and get some practice in, if you like.

Excited to seee how it turns out !! :D Sugarberry still looks so pretty poor thing got a haircut!
For no reason, too. Her head was fully sealed and there was no rusted metal inside her. None of these guys have rust and most have perfect eyes and symbols.

Im guessing a kid got to her! o_O I used to always cut my Barbies hair short bc I wanted short hair so bad lol. One of my childhood best friends would always cut her dolls bald and rip off their heads. Her toy chest was a horror show! :rofl:

I think the kid took great care of them :) But either sold them on as an adult or decided to do customs. They chopped off the hair and then realised they couldn't get the heads off! :rofl: Not surprising though, cos Magic Star's head was proper melted on. Had to cut the neck plug :/

Ohhh nooo!!! Thats how it was with a teeny tiny pony baby i got in a lot bag from a antique store, all the ponies were coated with mold inside, solid black, so I figured the baby was too, but i couldnt get her head off. >n< So i used an Xacto knife and slipped and cut her body a bit, only to open her and realize there was no mold....was a bad day lol
