OH MY GOODNESS! I head a rattling inside one of my G1s.. particulate rattling, not just a washer loose. Besides.. she had tail rust and I figured I'd try to fix it.

:eeek:

I guess that's smooze? Black icky nastiness everywhere!!!!

I'm skeeered!:help:

I opened up a Lemon Treats once to clean her up because I could see some dark spots through her plastic. I wasn't expecting what I saw. The entire inside of her body was black with smooze!

It was the nastiest thing I've ever seen inside a pony. It took me almost two hours to get her cleaned up, and there was still some stuff inside her legs that I just couldn't get at.

Ewww! I've found black mold inside ponies before, but not as bad as you are describing. I sprayed some Clorox cleaner in there and let it sit awhile and then rinsed it out really well. That seemed to do the trick. I have been feeling the need to behead all my ponies and clean them out (some 80 G1's), but it seems like such a chore.

Clorox cleaner? Maybe I'll have to try that next time. I soaked Lemon Treats in Oxy Clean for a while but it still didn't break up enough for it all to come out.

Anyone else have any good cleaning ideas for that nasty mold inside ponies?

I've heard a bleach solution also works well?

Use a bottle brush to get into the legs. It helps with the scrubbing.

They can definitely be nasty. It seems like the worst ones I've found (I don't collect seaponies, but I'm sure they're worse!) were ponies that had their neck seams opened partially. I guess that lets in just that little bit more moisture when they went swimming, but the head wasn't totally off to allow for easy air drying and the mold multiplies like mad. Cleaning up the aftermath is not for the faint of heart -- or stomach!

I luckily have found any black grossness yet. Although I haven't opened all of my ponies to check either. Just thinking about finding that in a pony makes me squirm.

Yah that happen to a really old G1 I had, that I took in the bath like every day as a kid >.< Eventually I lost her tail, poor thing. In my mind, I thought it'd be a good idea to use my pony with the loose tail and let them borrow the tail every other day.. The ideas you get when you are little.

What you have sounds alot like what alot of my ponies had, its just rust from the washer. Somehow, I'm not entirely sure, it get all over the insides of the ponies. Gross but mostly harmless unless untreated.

This is what I've done for all my ponies that required cleaning, which are alot because I buy work lots! Find an old tooth brush or a small bottle brush (those are best because they bend to fit the legs and harder to each areas). Mix plain old liquid soap (if your worried maybe get the antibacterial kind) with Baking soda (yes) into a paste. Put some on the tooth brush and start scrubbing. The really nice thing about his is you don't have to worry about side effects so you can clean the entire pony with it, including the hair.

Unfortunatly it's nearly impossible to get all fo it off, most of mine still have stuff at the bottoms of the insides of their feet. So far I haven't had rerusting issues, but we'll see.

I picked up a few G1's at an antique store a few weeks ago, and I had them sitting in my room before I cleaned them. After a while I started to notice a smell the likes of which I had never smelled before. It did not take me long to trace it back to an otherwise ordinary-looking Lemon Drop. I opened her up and found things I have no words to describe.

She was bathed IMMEDIATELY, soaked in bleach, drenched in Febreeze, and she still smells! I may have to bin her, just because she smells so bad.

i gotta see a picture of this!!!

I had a Baby Crumpet one time that was so full of icky black goo that is was oozing out around her mane. It was disgusting. I don't remember what I did with but I don't think she ever came clean.:bath:

Haha, the title of this post must be inspired by that old radio show about The Shadow.

What evil lurks in the hearts of men... the Shadow knows!

Also, treasture lurks in the bodies of G1s! Someone found 20 bucks inside a G1 once!
Wish I could say that was me. All I found was some cruddy rust, and a super hero shoe.

I found Glory's tail inside her once. There was rattling so I popped off her head, she was MINTY aside from tail-less. There inside her was her washer AND her entire tail. My mum sat down and spent an hour brushing that tail while watching tv. Then I put it back in carefully and I now have a beautiful Glory.

Aside from that I tend to not open ponies up. I don't want to see the gunk and grossness. It would make me throw up.

That's where I got the title from! :)

$20 huh? *eyes her ponies*

EEww!! That looks so nasty and gross. There's no way i'm opening any of my pony heads if this is what I might find. Maybe it's best in this case that what you don't find, won't hurt you.

That Mimic was nasty. I just cleaned a SHS Ruby Lips and something fleshy fell out. She had real bad tail rust and I know what a washer looks like and brother that wasn't it! It was like an orangy ribbon of a mushroom consistency nearly the length of my pinkie. No lie!! I wanted to show someone, but there wasn't anyone around. That's probably the worst I've found.

I never took my ponies in the bath as a kid, so I don't think they've got a lot of inside water damage, that said unless I start to notice something from the outside, I 'm so not in a hurry to find out. (not to mention, I've never known how to remove the head to clean the inside in the first place)

Gross! Yuck!

WHOA! That Mimic's a nightmare!! The worst I've ever had is a pony full of rust...and a little mold around the neck...but whoa, ew!!
