True, but Taffeta is in the UK, so I hazard to guess she meant Americans. Which is true, Americans do have spelling issues. Not to say that the British don't, but you see more of it from Americans/lazy Americans.
Actually, I meant English stupidity. As in people - in general, who claim to speak English as a first language. It was a linguistic comment and if I had meant to insult Americans (which would be an unpleasant and uncalled for thing to do) I would have said American and be done with it. Please do not put words into my mouth. Just because I live in the UK does not immediately mean any insult I make regarding language is directed at those across the atlantic.
I work in a library here where the vast majority of people coming in are not English. A good proportion of them speak better English than some of the natives do. In fact, one of my colleagues is German and her English is significantly better than some of the creatures who slop through the door day by day.
That was essentially my point. If you want to split hairs about it, Americans speak American English and English speak English...so is it likely I was attacking you?
