Hi all, I think the winter swap is finally winding down, and with that, I'd like to see how much interest there is in a summer swap. I'm thinking of trying something slightly different this time. Feedback is appreciated. :)

Part One: A Speedy Summer Swap
I was thinking of opening five slots to previous swappers who have been prompt in past ATCs. This swap would have a shorter mailing deadline so those who work fast aren't left waiting for the other swappers to finish. I was thinking perhaps a two week working time before the mail-in date, so hopefully the speedy swap would be finished in three to four weeks.

Part Two: The Summer Vacation Swap
The second swap would be open to anyone who wanted to try out the ATCs. There wouldn't necessarily be a limit on the number of sign ups, but if we get more than ten swappers signed up, I'd probably split the large group into two groups (unless the consensus is the more the merrier). This swap would also be open to those signed up in the speedy swap, if they feel adventurous and would like to take on two swaps at once. Working time would be a month out from the time sign ups close, for about a 6 to 8 week turnaround.

Another change is this time I would not sign myself up as a swapper, so IF we have a dropout, I'll be available to do replacement cards and hopefully not delay the process too much. I would strongly encourage anyone who knows they won't make the deadline to speak up well ahead of time so we'll know whether to wait for you or have me do replacement cards. I won't bite, I promise -- life happens.

One other full disclosure: Since I am really only an active member here, ATC swaps I run will not be held in duplicate on the Arena, as I think may have been standard procedure before. That's just a heads up, not a slight to the Arena.

SIGNUPS UNTIL MAY 1! Remember to state which swap you wish to join (or both!) :easterbunnyears:

Oooh I wanna do this! And I think the 2 round thing - the speedy one for people who have done it before and then the second one for anyone else interested - sounds like a really good idea.

I may be interested but I will have to work on m drawing a bit too see if I am up to it by the sign up...

I'm definitely in! For either one or both.

sounds good to me. i'll be apart of this. either one is fine by me or both.

From the one that I was involved in... people may list a few of their favorite ponies, and you take a piece of heavy stock, such as posterboard, and draw on it.
The cards are the size of trading cards, like baseball cards or something. :D

I have always wanted to get into a ATC swap. I would love to. are these strictly pony related?

Do you have a page detailing the restrictions/sizes/making of an ATC card? I've seen them before but can't seem to find it now.

Oh wow, lots of interest. :D I'll try to get sign ups going ASAP; in the meantime, let me answer some questions...

I was thinking we'd go with a broad summery theme with anything goes, as long as you incorporate MLPs. We don't really have skill levels, so beginner to advance artists are welcome! We also don't restrict the medium (so you could do it in Photoshop, or with paint, colored pencils, glitter, whatever you want.)

The only real limit is the size (2.5 by 3.5 inches, or 64 by 89 cm) -- baseball card size. And don't forget to sign your name on your card!

One of my favorite ATC "what is it and what can I do with it" sites is this one: Art in your Pocket: ATCs There are some pretty intriguing ideas for cards on that page. Lev also has all her cards here in the art forum, as I recall, so you can kind of see what we've done through the past swaps (and she's done all of them!)

FYI, everyone:

Life has been hectic the past few days (the family dog went in for surgery to repair a ruptured disc in her back and I've barely been around.) For everyone interested in joining the swap, can you please leave a message from this point out letting me know you're definitely up for it (and which swap you want to join, or both)? I'll try to keep the list as up-to-date as possible, but after late-Sunday or Monday I'll be with an invalid dog and several tons of backlog work and grad school portfolio drawing to do.... You know how everything comes together at once.

Seriously good thing I was not signing myself up as a swapper this time. *wince* Mailing and processing cards for the swap should not be an issue, though.

Ohh! Me me me!! I'll do the summer vacation swap.
