best buy had the runaway rainbow in stock today so i picked it up! i want to post some screencaps and commentary for you guys who are curious how it is. ^__^
PREVIEW:
apparently next spring's DVD is called "a very pony place." it's actually 3 episodes: two for the sky, come back lily lightly, and positively pink. there's also an animated short called "greetings from unicornia," in which rainbow dash sends ponyville a postcard from unicornia.
(THIS IS SO TOTALLY RARITY'S BEDROOM COLORED PINK)
THE MOVIE:
it starts out in ponyville, where rainbow dash is in charge of decorating in preparation for the first rainbow of the season.
"i love rainbows... RAINBOWS... RAAAAIINBOOOWWSSS AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!"
cut to unicornia, where they're doing the same thing. apparently all the unicorns are really old, because i can't find any other explanation for all those lines over their eyes:
they also have interesting laws of bubble-physics, in which a small amount of bubbles becomes a large amount of bubbles when tossed at a pony, and one big bubble becomes a ton of tiny bubbles when popped. BTW, the yellow pony is NOT lily lightly (as someone mentioned earlier), so i have no idea why they put her on the cover of the "come back lily lightly" book. anyway, cheerilee is trying to reign in rarity's ADD long enough to teach her how to make a rainbow. rarity's voice makes me want to jam Q-tips in my ears.
back in ponyville, rainbowdash is explaining rainbows. when asked where the come from, she replies "let me explain... they come from... uh, i don't know." then everyone sings a song about the colors in a rainbow.
cheerilee finally finds rarity messing around in the castle with the magic wand. rarity throws it up in the air and POOF! it disappears. then POOF! RARITY disappears.
;; she reappears in midair above the breezies, on their way to ponyville. apparently the breezies live in breezie blossom. the breezies take rarity to the cotton candy cafe, where she EATS AN ENTIRE CAKE. then she sings an entire song without moving her mouth. :O rainbow dash is not very happy with rarity.
i like the new 'do, though.
they take rarity to spike, who tells them about unicorns and the first rainbow of the season... and AAAAAALL the castles in the world of ponies. there's A LOT.
while rarity's piddling around in ponyville, 2 of the 4 shooting stars go by. she has to make a rainbow BEFORE the 4th star appears, or no rainbows all year. and rarity is COMPLETELY UNCONCERNED when each star goes by.; but then, her motto IS "it wasn't my fault!" so i guess that's not surprising.
yeah, ok. whatever. :roll: then rarity and cheerilee sing a song which totally sounds like a love song... SO WRONG. they're sad because they're so far apart...
...yeah.
but they find each other soon enough, and rarity uses the magic wand to call the crystal carriage... and even though everyone's mouth is moving here, only one voice is talking.
and even though it was minty, pinkie pie, and rainbow dash who got in the carriage with the unicorns, at the castle, out hops rainbow dash, peachie pie, and moondancer. by the time they get inside, all the color is disappearing from ponyville. but the unicorns put their horns together and make a rainbow after all, and ponyville is saved. THE END.
