Rapunzel at $800?

That is the first I've heard of someone spending $800 on a pony! And I thought $155 for MIB Foreign ponies were unheard of :sleepdeprivation:. Hopefully you get the chance to get her at a reasonable price next time around.
 
I find $800 to high for a pony, too. Rapunzel is rare, but I would give her $400 or less.

I agree that she can get a lot of ponies for Rapunzel price.

For example if she likes long haired ponies you can get her the both brush and grow sets for her (beside other ponies for punzie price) , you see Glittering Gem is pink and has a blond hair and is a pegasus.

We have 2 of her now!!!! One from a thrift store BAG of ponies(bag cost $3)....the other Rapunzel came from Craigslist, she came with a bunch of ponies and the ice cream shoppe.....that my hubby paid $20 total for.....WISH I could post pics!!!! (can't figure it out.....:p) sigh. Both are in GORGEOUS condition! One has better curls to her tail and main (so that one is mine).....BUT the other is in my daughters room!!!!! (top shelf, to keep her pretty- BUT she is there to be played with!!!!!!!!!)
Honestly.....she(my daughter) might(and I stress MIGHT- not to get too many hopes up) BUT trade her.....depending on what she might get in exchange!
(My daughter is into the newer LPS items.....and Petit Blythe dolls.........and she doesn't have any BIG brother ponies!!! she wants them!!)

Oh my gosh, I really hope you didn't trade her for a small amount of ponies....If nothing you should sell her to a nice collector and then use the money to buy your daughter some more ponies...I would hate to see you get ripped off honestly.
 
Nope, the trade will be worth it. =) My daughter had a very long list of what she wanted......very long...and it looks like she will get them all from the trade!

I offer one more unsolicited opinion, in the form of a short story:
In the early 90s I found a Vistosi bird at an estate sale for $4. I quickly sold it to an antiques dealer for $1400. The dealer more than likely doubled or tripled their investment on it by flipping it through a European connection, as these birds bring a lot of money from glass collectors. My point being that I made a sweet profit from my $4 purchase that it kept me in Tastycakes and video rentals for a long time afterward - no regrets.

Yup. I want everyone to fully understand, I got BACK into MLP when my daughter turned 3 and showed a HUGE love for them....it triggered memories....I dug out my collection (which had been sold over the years, so only a small amount remained)..HOWEVER.....the memories are what is priceless to me...esp the memories I share with my children. (not the $ VALUE of a toy) I am a collector WITH my now 4yr old daughter....we LOVE MLP TOGETHER....but don't buy "mint" we go to thrift stores and yard sales and hunt for our "new ponies"....=) My husband helps us search for MLP..and supports our fun!
Rapunzel, is gorgeous.....and PINK with long hair.....THAT is WHY we LOVE her.....not her $ value.
I JUST realized that she was wanted after reading this post! (not kidding) We just love our ponies....
and enjoy playing together....however ponies can add up quickly $$$$ and my daughter has wanted lots of the G1 ponies I had when I was little......and I wanted to get them for her....but I don't have lots of pony $ to buy on ebay or even on the MLPTP.....So, to trade Punzie for a huge box of wanted ponies......seems like a dream come true to my daughter. ;) This way, it works for us.
Her Rapunzel cost.... (.50) it was one of 6 ponies for $3. I know she has a value NOW....but we love out MLP collection NOW, and are trading her. In the future she might be worth more....and that's fine, we have 2 for a reason. One to keep. One to trade to get what other ponies we can't find. =)
(SO, YES we still have the other Rapunzel.....with curls, perfect braid and close to PERFECT- in our eyes at least. We are KEEPING her. SHE is now my daughter's Rapunzel. =) Even though she might sleep up on the shelf at night....rather than in a box of ponies.....lol.)
We got BOTH Rapunzels within the same month....last year......my hubby just new we loved the PINK MLPs.....so that is how they came to be. Our collection has just gotten even bigger because he brought them home! 1 pony for a whole box......my daughter can't wait to trade. lol. Hope everyone can understand. I'm not into MLP for the value....but for our shared love of ponies! =)

I guess you missed out on the $1000 for MIB Mimic. I'll never forget watching that auction.

$1000 ??! Wow, I never actually thought I'll see someone paying or selling so much for a pony, even if it is a MIB one.

How much a loose Mimic is? Just curious.

Sweet. I am glad you got what you wanted from her. I am SO GLAD the deal was a good one, not a bad one! Yanno.. even if the trade is low in the community's mind..it's a well informed decision on your part. That's what matters!

Keep yr eyes open and u can get the mo ponies u want.
Thrift stores idk no luck finding any Gen 1 mlp but i dont stop looking lol
 
Some ponies do go for ridiculous prices. $40 is my limit for an adult pony.

Some of the mail orders are quite affordable though.

My daughter owns Baby Stockings and Baby Lucky and got them for $8 and $12.

And the MO Sparkle Ponies are quite cheap, if hard to find. I got my Starhopper for $20 and she typically goes between that and $25.

And I also own a gorgeous Ice Crystal custom. I plan on having customs of Cool Breeze and Hollywood done someday.

My daughter is planning on having customs of Gypsy, Sunburst and Munchy done. She also owns a darling custom Baby Mimic.
 
Is that $800 rapunzel in mint condition with her barette she orginally came with one in her mane, but anyway 800 is that in mint perfect condition??
