Hi

Is there a set time for the pool yet? depending on the time of day, I may go in the pool, but then if we all have to suddenly leave or move to a new spot, I don't want to be all wet.

Is there a set place to meet for the pool event, like show up at 4 and we will all meet 4-4:15 at the food court etc, and then all walk in to the pool area together etc. I mean if they don't let everyone in, I would be bummed to be left out, or know someone else did. Is there a back up plan?

I will probably just come myself, just in case we have to change things around etc, its 2 hard with a 2yr old, but she's coming to the fair with my husband.

I was thinking in the evening hours we eat first and then head as a group to the pool. The group idea is a good idea you guys, that way we may be able to get everyone in. :) Not really sure where to meet up at, haven't researched the hotel that much to figure it.

We've got over 20 rsvp's. Let's try to take over the restaurant! lol. Anyone else wanna join?

Ashlyne is in talks with the restaurant now to get the details for us about our menu and stuff. Being such a large group, our gratuity (tip) will already be included in our bill. We will not be able to pay seperate with debit/credit cards or checks. It'd be cash only, so heads up. She'll be sharing more info as soon as she gets it.

OK, my contact there worked some magic and we've not got a reservation for 30 people held there Saturday night at 7:30pm. She was able to set it up like a regular reservation, no special menu or anything like that. YAY for Rain Forest Cafe!

For those of you that can drive and can take people and for those that need a ride, let's meet in the Orleans lobby at 7:00 and we'll start shuttling people over. If you're going over there on your own, the reservation is under MY LITTLE PONY GROUP or ANGIE GOUGE (my name) for 7:30.

*If you're not at The Orleans and don't have a way to get over to MGM, post here and we'll work something out.*

Fair clean-up starts at 5:30 and officially ends for the day at 6:00. If it's like previous years, we all need to be out of the convention area at 6:00 so that gives us an hour to change, freshen up or just relax.

updating the 1st post now!

Since that is settled, now on to Friday. What does everyone think about meeting say around 6pm for dinner and then hanging out poolside by around 7 or 730pm? You guys all wanna meet in the lobby around 7pm and we go in as a group?

Update from Ashlyne:

LOL Ya, I thought I WAS adding on extra spaces when I made the reservation for 30 (at the time, we only had about 20 definites) but boy did it fill up fast! I'll see about extending the reservation, but first I want to have a better idea if it's going to be like 5 people, 10 people... or more.

The lady I had talked to said that for large groups (like us), they typically require a group reservation, which means ordering from a limited group menu, paying it all on one bill and knowing the exact number of people that will be there. I'm sure that's to make sure they can set everything up without having to add on or take away extra tables last minute, making sure everyone gets their food within a timely manner and not driving the waiting staff crazy with having to process so many bills. They're a busy place, so I understand that and big groups can be a hassle even if it means extra business. But they're being very gracious by letting us do this without the group restrictions -- I don't want to be a nuisance by emailing them daily to add another person or too.

So I'll take down any interested persons till mid-next week. That still gives them a week's notice. I think adding on a few extra spaces is a good idea, just in case. We might end up being broken up into two big tables depending on the number, but as long as we're all there together and eating at the same time, we'll still be able to chat with each other.

Since the link from the RFC website doesn't work, I found this menu from the Disney location. Please note that the menu items MAY BE DIFFERENT at our location, but it should give you an idea of what kind of food they have and the prices.

SAMPLE MENU (*from a different RFC location -- items may be different at our location)

Hi

Okay count me in, with ,my daughter and husband, he said he would entertain her for me and she might enjoy it. I can always run them home and come back if we all go out somewhere.

I'm going to touch base with ashlyne, I think we may of reached our limit of 30, but if many more want to go, we'll get a 2nd group going. It's no biggie. We will all be able to eat there together somehow. It's a pony restaurant takeover!

I'm going to wait till tomorrow morning and send an email to the RFC lady to see if we can extend the reservation by at least 5 (hopefully 10). If nothing else, we'll see if we can be split up. I still want to give folks another day to chime in if they're interested so we know about how many people to ask to add to the reservation.

I'm happily surprised that so many want to get-together -- it's quite a group!!!

We've got 33 going now including pony people, significant others/guests and little ones. Anyone else want to join us?

We may have to create a 2nd group and you guys just pick where you want to sit between the 2 groups.

Everyone is welcome to join us, let's take over the restaurant!! Already got a group together, just bring your group with you for this!

I emailed the RFC lady to see what our options are for extending our reservation. Hopefully we can add a few more on to the regular reservation, or at least split into a couple of smaller groups -- I'll let you all know what her response is.

Since something's wrong with the Arena at the moment and I can't access it, I'll respond to some concerns here about transportation.

Please post/PM if you need a ride or if you can help drive. That'll help us get organized. Since most of us probably won't be driving in Vegas, I'm asking anyone that has a car to help out with the carpooling there. I will have a small car and am willing to make a few trips to get us there. MGM is 2 miles east of Orleans.

Someone suggested walking from Orleans to MGM (figuring 45 minutes) and I just want to mention a couple of things:
~First, please do not walk alone -- the more the better.
~Secondly, don't underestimate summer Vegas heat. It's dry heat, so it's a little more comfortable than humid heat, but because of that, it can suck you dry before you know it. Take a water bottle, wear sunscreen on exposed skin and sunglasses. Walk through the big casino hotels if you can. Make sure someone's got a cell phone and call me if you decide you want to be picked up (I'll be PMing everyone on the list up my number so we've all got a contact). I walked two long blocks in the July Vegas heat last year and it was rough enough for me. It's later in the day, which is good, but it'll still be plenty hot. Just thought I should caution ;)

Got you three as (?)s on the Arena thread.

There's been transportation talk on the Arena thread as well. The Orleans offers a free shuttle to the Strip and a sister casino; hotel guests get priority seating, but there still may be a line so get there early (way before 7pm if you can). Phylliebean says it could easily take 30 minutes for one trip to MGM so if we need to make 2 car trips, we'll have to meet earlier than 7pm.

So who all needs transportation and who else could help with carpooling?

UPDATE: Looks like we can't extend the 30 person reservation without imposing "group" restrictions, but we're working on setting up another smaller group reservation for those currently on the waiting list. So till we get the details worked out and posted, we can't guarantee any more spots from this point on.
