For those of you who will be attending the fair, the game plan if you'd like to join us is this.

Friday - have a relaxing evening poolside at the Orleans hotel and we all pitch in to order some pizza. http://www.mlptp.net/forums/my-litt...5916-pool-side-friday-orleans.html#post479260

Saturday - roughly around 7pm/730pm/8pm we will all be getting together to go to the RainForest Cafe which is at the MGM Grand on Las Vegas Blvd near the airport to eat dinner. It's a really neat themed restaurant.

WHEN: MLP GROUP 1: Saturday June 20th, 7:30pm RESERVATION FILLED
MLP GROUP 2: Saturday, June 20th, 7:00pm -- 4 SPOTS OPEN!

TRANSPORTATION: Please allow plenty of travel time! Traffic in Vegas can make the 2 mile trip a 30-minute one.
~~Driving yourself: I’d recommend giving yourself 45-60 minutes to get there. With traffic, the drive could take 30 minutes; the garage is in the back of the hotel (see hotel map) and it’s a good walk to get to the front. If you’re willing to help carpool, please PM either myself or SailorLibra. Due to traffic, we will probably only be able to make one trip.
~~Free Orleans Shuttle: It says it runs every 30 minutes. I called and she said if traffic is bad, it could be longer and it may make other stops first (like to the sister casino Gold Coast) and it fills up fast. I’d recommend getting there as early as you can, probably no later than 6:30pm. Hotel guests get priority seating but it can fill up fast. Pick up is at Tropicana Ave hotel entrance.

~~Need A Ride: Please post/PM if you need a ride and we’ll do our best to coordinate one for you. We’ll set up a time and place to meet before heading over; likely it’ll be at SailorLibra’s booth at the end of the convention.
~~Walking to MGM: I can’t with good conscience recommend walking the 2+ miles to MGM, but some are getting a group together, so it is an option. Average high temp for Vegas in June is 100 degrees. It is very dry, which makes it more comfortable than humid heat, but you also don’t realize how quickly you can overheat and dehydrate. Heat stroke is a serious thing, so PLEASE TAKE WATER, wear sunscreen, walk indoors when you can and don’t walk alone.

The 7:30 is under "My Little Pony Group"
The 7:00 smaller group is under "My Little Pony Group II".....ya, it's a little backwards considering the time and not very clever, but easy to remember ;)

We aren't staying at the Orleans, we are staying at the Excalibur because it was cheaper since we're going for a week. Do you think they'd still let us in?

Do you mean let you into the Rain Forest Cafe?? Oh, totally. It's open to the public. And it's not even at The Orleans hotel. It's at MGM Grand which right across the street from Excalibur! (#14 on the map above).

As far as the possible poolside get-together on Friday night, I don't know. The hotels I've stayed at on the Strip require a room key to access them. Since The Orleans is off-Strip, it may or may not be that strict.

Even if you did need a key to get in couldn't one of us just open the door and let you in? One of us that is staying at the Orleans could just meet you in the lobby and let you in to the pool. I wouldn't think that they would have some one at the door to the pool checking.

They did have people checking each person at a couple of hotels I've stayed at. But they were a little nicer hotels and on the Strip. One place had a thing like they have at subways where you insert the card and the metal bar let you (and just you) through.

I just don't know what to expect till I get there, and I thought I ought to mention it just in case. It's not really something you can call about and ask.

Really? So do they give a key to every person who is staying in the same room? Most of the places I have stayed just give you two keys for everyone to share in a room.
 
Well, they didn't make it a point to give us a key per person since there was only two of us and we always ask for 2 keys wherever we go. I doubt the kids need a key, but they were checking adults *shrugs*

May be that's a question WingedFantasy can find an answer to since she has direct connections with the hotel.

Pools at Vegas hotels are generally crowded due to the intense heat, especially during the summer, which is why they may have a stricter policy on pool access. And it would stop the general public from getting access to them too.

Again, I can only speak for the hotels I've stayed at in Vegas. It may not be the case for The Orleans. Anyone else stayed at a Vegas hotel and remember how they handled the pool issue?
 
Ya most hotels wont let you in without you being a guest there, which is understandable lol. Mabye we can figure something out. If not there's still the restaurant. I just went to the Rainforest Cafe for the first time in Atlantic City. It's pretty cute.

That's what I was thinking. They have hotel parties I'm sure, so what's to say you can't bring 1-2 guests each per person staying in the hotel? All they can do is ask us not to and we abide by the rules if they ask us not to. It never hurts to give it that ole college try!

I'm working on keeping up with you ashlyne and updating my list as you update yours. :) Maybe we should ask if this can be sticked for us? Any mod's wanna do that for us please?

You may want to have a back-up meeting place on Friday just in case, like someone's hotel room or if there's a general lounging area, that might be good. It would just stink if someone who was staying there arrived at the pool late and didn't know the party got moved or where to go next.

Yep... I was thinking about bringing my son to the Friday night party, but not to the RFC on Saturday .... He's 4 and he can't stay still either... lol :) Luckily my sister-in-law is joining us that weekend so we will have the flexibility to leave him with her on Saturday

Is anyone planning to actually swim on Friday night or just hang out pool side? Don't want to be the only one showing up in a bathing suit needlessly.... :eeek:
 
I'm shy about being in a bathing suit as well, but I do plan on it depending on the outside temperature. Even if it's just in the hot tub/jacuzzi area :D I'm a sucker for those lol.
