It's been a long time since I really did more than a half-hearted glance at the boards.
I've been having some weird experiences on the pony front lately, which got me thinking about this place, and the collection that's currently packed away in my mother's basement. Except a couple specials who are here in my room.
Lately I've found people I know, in my social circles, people who used to laugh at my collection, who said it was childish, suddenly calling themselves My Little Pony fans and bronies. I ask them why the change in heart and it's always the same. "Friendship is Magic is the best show ever...I love so-and-so from that show she's awesome." I try to have a conversation about ponies with them, but they don't actually know anything about the line, only this one small portion of it, and they aren't the least bit interested in any MLP thing but FiM.
Am I just old and jaded that I think MLP is more than one current kids show? I don't feel these people are actual MLP fans. If you're a fan you are interested in learning about where a thing came from. They are fans of FiM.
Either way, these so called fans made me miss people who actually cared about MLP and so I found my way back here to all of you. There's a lot of names I remember here, it's nice to see them all, and there's new names, and it's nice to see them too.
For those who don't know me, don't remember me, or whatever.
I'm Baby Nightmare. I've been collecting MLP off and on since I was a little girl in the 80's and I got my very first Gusty. She was then, and is now, my favourite MLP, even though the original is in horrible, dog chewed state she holds a special place in my collection and she always will. I couldn't tell you why I have the name I do. She started as a doodle in a school notebook amongst a series I had dubbed "Dream Ponies" alongside Dream Catcher, Dream Weaver, Day Dream, and others long since forgotten. For some reason or another she stuck in my heart and when I joined the Pony Community, I used her name, and that's been me ever since. I'm a Canadian pony currently living in Hamilton, Ontario. I LARP (Live Action Roleplay) and I love every minute of it. I build Gypsy Caravans with my mum sometimes and think working with my hands is one of the best things going. I sew costuming and have recently started to experiment with plushies (Yes, this does mean I will be attempting an MLP plush soon.)
Well that's my return. I'll probably half lurk for a while, being broke means I can't really actively collect anymore, but I still love to look at them.
