MLPTP EVENT ~Hunt Questions~

Hey Claire, I don't have ANY issues what so ever with the deadline being at Midnight EST - the only thing that's confusing me a bit is.. well I've got dyscalculia, which means I have it the same way with numbers as dyxlexic people have it with letters, that's all and that's why I had such a hard time finding out my RL time compared to the board time, but it isn't bothering me at all - Just means you got to get the step done as soon as you can :)

I like the fact that there was a bit extra time too; Most days I don't work, but a lot of the people here do and if there's only 24 hours exactly for bonuses, that will probably derive more from the fun than a slight confusion over what 'deadline at midnight' means.

I.e. the first bonus shot was posted on Sunday, where most things are closed here. Had I had a shift on Monday, where things would be open again so I could get inside the shop to find a display (obviously Denmark doesn't have huge window or outside Halloween displays) and had the deadline only been 24 hours exactly, I wouldn't have made it. I'm sure that goes for a lot of the working ponies and parents here too.

Btw, Alatariel helped me figure mine out; if the questions keep coming in, we can help eachother figuring out people's RL deadlines so it's not entirely up to you to repeat or find new ways of explaining - Also, I don't think I have ever played in Photo Hunt where there was no hiccups and misunderstandings right at the beginning :)

Ofc you're totally entitled to do as you please with the Hunt, but I just wanted to give a head's up and say that there will be hiccups for people, regardless of it being 24hr only or deadling at 24:00. Hope it makes sense and I'm not out of line here :)

Thanks SillyBilly! I appreciate it, I do like to give extra time if I can, and I agree about this past bonus too- I know that most shops were probably closed Sunday, so I'm glad people got Monday night to get a chance.
I don't think you were stepping out of line at all.

Ok guys, I just wanted to let you know the scores for Step 1 have been posted. Look for them in the Step 1 thread, at the very top of the first post. Everyone did awesomely!

A couple people told me that they cant see my center piece picture. What should I do ? am I aloud to try reposting it :S. Just wanna make sure its visable by 11:30 lol

The only Halloween ponies I have are MIB, would that still get full points?

MIB ponies do count as long as they meet the type and generation requirements.

I noticed it wasn’t showing until I logged in but can now see it. Maybe there is a setting in TP’s photo host or when you upload it? The main thing is that the judges can see it.

For each step and bonus, you're told whether you get full, extra, or sneaky points, however the final points are not revealed until the end of the Hunt.

Practice Shot, Step 1, and Bonus 1 have been scored, you can see what you got in the original step thread itself. However, you'll have to excuse me, I've not gotten to score Step 2 yet because I've got a lot going on right now, but I'll get to it as soon as I can. This is my priority on the board, as I love this game! However, I've got work full-time, I'm taking a masters course, and I'm sick, so please bear with me. I'm trying to be swift!

Yes, you can use G1 plushies for this bonus. Normally I think we're a little less lenient, but we've counted customs, ponyville, and even McD ponies in this year's hunt, so I think plushies fit in there. The fun of it is creativity, so go with it.

But to make for the best pictures, I would discourage McDs and tiny tins, anything really small. We've counted them for now, but since they are so small, they don't show up as well, so like I said they're not ideal.

Oh man, I just noticed the signature note and sorry I didn't do that sooner. I turned it off now. :turkey:

No problem, Mirakat!

Roogna, bring it on, sounds awesome! Basically any kind of candle that looks like it's dripping blood will work for those extra points, but it must be easy to tell in the photo to get the points.

For the movie screen shot, is it okay to create a montage of more than one (probably two or three) pic (not for the pony re-enactment) to show the movie's scene? Or post more than one screen shot? I know you said no photo shopping for the pony scenes, but I wondered about the movie sceen shots to show what's in the scene.
thanks :)

Question: I understand the no photo shopping part completely, but say your selected scene has a blue wash through it or it's dark... When you then need to take your picture and if your camera has different color options, may you then choose the option that let's you take a darker than 'normal' picture or with a blue-ish hue to it?

Hope it makes sense. Basically what I am asking is, may you take your picture so it looks like the scene you are making, when photoshopping isn't allowed? :)

DialgabritesMom- Yeah, that sounds like a fine idea to show a few screen captures of the scene to get a good idea about what is happening in the scene. As long as there is only one entry, it should be fine (and a good idea too, hats off to you) to post a few shots of what's happening in the scene, especially since sometimes one screen capture might not show everything happening.

SillyBilly- are you saying changing your camera's options? I'll have to get with Wolfie on that one to be sure, so I'll come back when I find out. Good question!

You can use lighting and such to affect the outcome of the actual photo taking but using hue setting will look like photoshopping. And not everyone has cameras with those options. So be careful that it doesn’t look altered or you might lose points.

Can we use doll size furniture for the scene?
Yes, you may use doll furniture and other items as long as the characters are ponies

Ok, so I am good with just messing with the light settings to make it lighter or darker?

Thanks a bunch :)

You can mess with the lighting in the room like adding a lamp or making the room darker but if you use you camera settings and it looks photoshopped, you could be sneaky points.

OK, got it :) TY for the speedy response!
