Ooh! Did you and Hank joust using foam swords and scooters? Did you meet moonwalking Mars Men? Hafta battle strange and mysterious customers for the last rotisserie chicken?
Weirdly it happened in the MLP aisle of all places. A teen girl was doing high kicks left and right, not watching for people and there were several children there. I finally said, "Sweetie, please stop that. You might kick someone." Her mom, who had been ignoring her snapped, "Don't tell my daughter what do to!" just as the brat kicked up again and smashed a poor little toddler right in the face. Little girl was just looking at Disney stuff minding her own business and wham. Right in the mouth. She begins wailing, and rightfully so. It made a horribly loud smacking sound, I know the kick must have hurt her terribly. So of course that little girl's mom starts yelling and the teens mom says, "She must have got in the way." And I was like, seriously? You're putting the blame on the little toddler? All hell was five seconds was breaking out because a very large man entered the fray. He had been on the next aisle and heard the loud smack then screaming. He kept the mom and teen from leaving, because that's what they tried to do, just leave. I wanted to call 911, because a blow to a small child's head can be very dangerous. Ends up one of the ladies from crafts/fabrics department saw everything and had called security. The woman is still trying to leave the scene with her baby kicking menace of a child. The man is refusing to let them, and good on him. Security comes and informs us the police have been called, as well as the paramedics. The toddler is gushing blood from a split lip and still crying pitifully. I had just asked the teen, "Aren't you even sorry, you hurt that poor baby!" and she just shrugs. She only reacted when the security guy said the cops were coming. "I don't want to go to jail!" she started hollering. Then her mom starts in, "She's just a kid! She's only 13!" and so on. The other mom, holding the hurt child says, "My daughter is 3. What about her?" But it was obvious neither cared about her. Security had the man and I leave, as they said it was on video, but they did take our names. When Poopsie and I left the store the cops were still there. It was ridiculous. If she'd have stopped kicking instead of acting like a spoiled heifer the baby wouldn't have gotten hurt. And I blame the mom most of all because she just basically told the kid to ignore everyone else and keep doing it.
The mind reels. If Hank had acted like that in a store when he was 13 I'd have beat him. I ain't kidding. Augh.
And back on subject, anyone interested in maybe doing a postcard swap? I collect them and think it would be super fun to get postcards from my friends here on the board!
