Yes.
Brook Rutwik or whatever from Florida about 1999-2000. She contacted me through AIM/AOL.
Supposed to trade my baby princess sunsparkle for some pony I really wanted (don't have that info with me). I sent mine out and she never sent hers. Oh, and she changed her email.

I know awhile ago someone tried to get all the people together that she scammed and get their belongings back but I don't know how that turned out. Perhaps someone can let me know?

It was a hard lesson early on but it taught me well. I check out feedback and ask around if they seem sketchy or *too new* (no offense new members). That and you can always ask them to mail out first. :)

It would be nice if everyone did send with insurance and I agree with you on that. But realistically most people don't. You as the buyer need to be responsible and make sure the seller add's insurance that way you can say you did all that you could.

B/c even if you dispute it with the seller and file a claim, all that person has to do is close their e-bay account or take all of the funds out of PayPal. Thats happened to people many times and then they don't get their money back which is awful :-(


Silvergriffen- If the buyer was supposed to mail out two ponies and she only mailed out one, then yes you are definatley entitled to more of the purchase price refund. Did the package looked damaged or look as though it may have had two ponies in it?

I think its great that the TP is learning about bad people to do business with. Hopefully by sharing these stories, it will keep others safe :D
 
I was scammed by Mysticwinds/Melissa a couple of years ago, she convinced me of a trade and stole my Baby Lollipop. She stole from a gazillion of people, but later regretted and returned some of the stolen ponies. She also returned my Baby Lollipop, so in the end I only lost the postage for shipping overseas in a registered letter.

She found my trades ad here in MLPTP and e-mailed me an offer.. too good to be true, but I was naive and young!


There's also a Finnish collector, Woody/Elina, who cheated and stole from many of my friends, even though not me. I later banned her from the Finnish MLP forum but she still shops ponies on eBay, so I'm on the watch for this scammer.

Well the bad thing about having been a part of ebay/boards for 9 years=being scammed too many times to care anymore. Lexi/cammy whatever she goes by went out her way to be a friend on AIM and turn around and bid up insane amounts on my auctions just to leave negs. She ruined my perfect feedback for YEARS because of that one stupid neg. There was also a guy from Hawaii a few years back selling a ton of MOC's including a Mimic, some people got their stuff, his paypal account froze cause it was a personal account and couldn't handle the income, so I send a check, he cashed it and fell off the planet apparently being in a car accident and a few more excuses, then the same MOC's show up a little later from another seller here in the states. I lost $40 to him on a MOC TE Sweet Stuff. I have one now but she's tainted because of him. I don't even look at her much because of the memory of him.

Luckily I never had too much trouble with Secretwish, but she was very slow at times.

I've also been scammed from swaps- the first custom one I entered at the arena, the swap holder never sent me a custom, promised to send some new G3's instead, didn't...then dropped off the planet and I never got anything...I really miss that custom I made. Then my own Holiday Swap here 2 years ago, ABrownCrayon fell off the planet leaving 3 of us with out gifts, me included. And last year, my winter wonderland custom swap, I made a cute baby custom for YourLoveOnly, and she didn't follow through so someone else had to make a custom for her partner so I almost feel like she stole that custom:/ The someone else wasn't happy with what they got so I had to send them something else as well.

There's many more but I just don't care anymore...

I'm currently out $200 in frostbites raffle...Luckily the $155 I sent crazyvintagegirl a month ago is find because my ponies finally showed up 2 days after I opened a paypal claim...a month after I paid.

I thankfully have only been scammed once. Back in February I won some auctions from a seller in Canada which consisted of two Dream Beauties and a mermaid. Seller ships them to the wrong address and sends them to ebay id mylittleponyheaven. MLPH swears she sent them my way and gave a Delivery Confirmation number that does not show up on USPS.com The seller refunded my money but I never got my ponies and now that ***** still has them and I want them. Unfortunately there is no way to get in contact with MLPH as she is no longer a registered user.

I believe MLPH was MLP-Barn on the Arena, but she was recently banned. She's still around, probably dreaming up another scam right now.
 
I was scammed a few years ago. I am not 100% positive on her id though so I would rather not say because I dont want to incriminate the wrong person accidently. Anyways this member was needing money badly and selling off much of her collection. I bought a suprise from her and never got her. She disappeared but there was someone who knew her and managed to get some of the ponies sent out to others but I was not included. I never got my suprise and sadly to this day I dont have one because of that.
 
Only once quite a while ago, perhaps in 2003. I bought one pony from an ebay seller, with good feedback, in Canada and then they listed some more and said I could combine shipping when they ended. Everything was fine, I won two more ponies and paid but then I didn't hear anything for a few days. I emailed a few times then someone saying they were the seller's husband said thrie son had been in an accident and he wasn't sure what was happening with the auction things so he was going to wait for her to come back. I though, ok, fine, reasonable excuse. A couple of weeks passed - he said she still wasn't back but he'd find my parcel and send it himself. I said thanks, sorry for the trouble etc etc. But I didn't get the parcel, I never got replies to my emails and I wasn't alone - the excuses were all different in the negative feedbacks and the account was soon suspended. It was $15 :(

I've been pretty lucky really overall but have had a few problems . . .

When mylittlemponyheaven were on ebay I payed for sundances bridle and a baby necklace never got them or heard from them. It was only a few dollars involved but still a very awful feeling obviously I'm not the only person who had problems with them.

Also quite a long time ago I won 2 great auctions from the same seller at a good price one was a bushwoollie and other princess accessories and the second a lot of baby neclaces including some HTF ones. Basically the seller made a mistake and sent the necklces to another buyer who had also won some auctions and they wouldn't give them back:( She gave me a refund and some MLP ribbons and combs to make up for it but I really wanted one of the neclaces and yes it was the same one I didn't get from MLPH (I've just about given up on getting it).

:shock:I'm shocked at some people's stories. As I've said above I've had problems so I'm not so naive to think everybodys honest but I can't believe how many dishonest people there are around - how sad. It's so awful reading about everybody's stories.
 
I don't recall EVER being scammed from ebay for a pony(lots of other things though) but I might just have forgotten, there was someone in the community YEARS ago who scammed me and I can't remember her name but it was back in the days when you sent cash through the post....never did get that lavender castle:icon_razz1:

I see in her feedback that she's dealt with alot of members of late. Might be a good idea to block her instantly from buying as she's been at this for over 8 years, so she's a very determined type of cyber criminal.
 
It's soo sickening.

After looking at all that information about Brooke (and all the others) it just makes me sick to my stomach. Not about me losing a measly baby princess sparkle but about how many people she has been doing that to for who knows how many years.

I just don't understand why someone would do such nasty things to such a nice group of collectors. I am usually not a vindicitive person but I hope she gets hers and then some more and more and more.
 
Now that you mention this, I remember both Brooke and the Bathel family. The latter I do believe scammed my mom. These people are awful!
 
Some good news!

The missing pony turned up!! She was at the post office. And, the seller was so sincerely sorry about the package (just got an email from her) that I felt bad for having suspected her, and was very happy to tell her that the pony had arrived safely.

Glad for the not-scam!

I got nailed by QuestorStar on here a year or two ago. Sent my money for a MIB Tall Tales and never got the pony. Sigh.

That is the person that led me to membership of the old TP.

I sold her a mint Mommy Berrytown through Ebay, and she gave me some rot about how she had already arranged to buy one through the TP, and that that was why she had not paid me. Blah,Blah, Blah....

She linked me to the TP and I am glad of that but she/they were horrors.

The only scam experienced had here makes me sad. When I was a newbie, a still well respected member fleeced me for a MOC Euro Silver Glow G2, and told me a MIB Fluttershy was equivalent value, as she was HTF and US exclusive!!!!! Duuuhhhh!

I lost about $25 on that deal and it really makes me ANGRY to see her still posting looking for rare G2'S when she took such an advantage of my lack of knowledge. It is so long ago now on the old board, I have no emails or board posts as proof, but I guess she will always know that she's a scammer. (hope she chokes on her G2 collection!)

I haven't been scammed that I can recall. Close a few times, but thank goodness they all worked out eventually.
 
collector1 I can probably find some info. It's have to wait until tomorrow as the computer I'm using (his name's Lord Fossil which should tell you something) is struggling something shocking today.
