G2 to G1/G3 Swap .:. All done! Thanks for a wonderful swap!

I was thinking of dying my bait instead of painting it, but I heard that dye sometimes brings out any flaws in the plastic. If it dyes badly I'll just paint over it I guess. I'm still deciding on which bait to use. :p

It can, yeah. Just make sure you check for glue residue before you dye and remove it with acetone, then scrub the pony to remove the acetone. :)
 
And don't forget dark colored dye jobs can take a long time to set so if you paint over it too quickly it could leech into the eye and symbol paint =(
 
So wondering, no one is going to sculpt the hooves are they?

Noticed all the G2's have the fur like hooves, but since it's making them into a G3, we aren't supposed to do that part right?

May be a dumb question, but since this is my first swap I don't want to miss anything or make any mistakes!!
 
I'm sure if you want to make feathered hooves it's up to you, but it isn't necessary. The style of G1's and G3's don't have it, so you don't have to if you don't want to. I guess unless you picked a G2 boy.....then you could use a G1 boy bait, and the hooves would already be feathered. lol.
 
I found 5 suitable baits (plus baits Aadra could use, though I have no idea who she's trying to make - come get these ponies out my house, woman!) and have all the hair I need. So.... Getting started tonight if I'm not exhausted after wrestling some of the cats to the vet for shots!
 
I wouldn't be terribly concerned about doing feathered hooves. They're just a part of the G2 line (like the earrings of G1's Sweetheart Sisters) and really don't have to be transferred over. Like josie said, if someone picked Prince so-and-so you could certainly use a male G1 bait (or a Shady pose bait since the UK Daddies came in that pose) but there weren't any G3 males and I don't think people are expecting their female G2 choices to come with feathered feet lol

I need to go pick up one supply I know I don't have but the store isn't open tomorrow boooooooooooooooooo (and no it's not Hobby Lobby)
I hate being so itchy to get started when I know it'll be another week before I do anything hands on... I must just feel better knowing I have every last thing I need so I COULD work on it if I wanted to lol.
 
Finally decided which oneI'm gonna do. I repainted the body, but think I need another coat ashade lighter.
Have one hair color, gotta order the rest & got the right sized jeweles for her eyes. Yeah! I think this will be the first of several g2 conversions, cuz I like the jewel eyes! My daughter already picked three more I "need" to make. lol

This is so much fun!!
 
I'm on a roll. I've got two half done. Can't decide which will be the ONE, but once I paint on the cutie marks, I'll be more sure I think...... I hope!

I posted the finished moonshine, and have two more half done, but decided which I'm doing for the swap. I like her more than I thought I would. Totally want to keep her now!!!

the other one I started I didn't care for, but now I'm liking the crazy color scheme!

This is a blast.
I want to try & make prince clever clover, if my partner didn't pick that one. Blue is my color. :)


So it's kinda hard on some of them to tell what color the eye crystal is. I am sure on the swap pony, but some I'm making I'm just using pink or a coordinating color cuz I cant tell!
