^I've been wondering this too. Especially seeing that Polaris has jumped up in price for some reason? Is anyone still selling her at the regular $14.99 price anymore?

I prefer this one so much over the normal one. Now I know what I felt Nova was originally lacking that wasn’t tinsel. Feels much more art accurate
Compared to the back of the boxes (which I have only finally seen today when looking)

Okay, so wait, there's an official pink swirl version being made? I only just heard about this, my first reaction was.... well! I went out and found someone claiming to be selling the pink versions and I immediately thought "This is a scam!" Well, even more so because I found an ad for them and it was using the photo from an old custom I know about!

Also gonna add, I have Nova with the white stripe and I actually prefer it. I wanted to grab a duplicate later so I could have a loose and in-box version, so this is actually kinda.... uh, not entirely good news for me. No idea how long before I could get a dupe, so I may just not get a white-stripe loose Nova. ;u;

I used to have this very backpack, it was great! I got it about seven years ago. I regret to say that after a few years the cat peed on it and it was unsalvagable.

Those are very early placeholder pics that were posted on the Amazon Celestial listings before they went live, or were even properly listed. (Like, you had to really trawl through the "not in stock" listings to find them.) By the time the listings went live, they had pics of the BF Celestial ponies. So it's not someone's attempt at a scam, it's just an old post (of mine, ha ha) from before the pictures were changed.Okay, so wait, there's an official pink swirl version being made? Oh incidentally the reason Polaris is more expensive right now is that Amazon is out of stock, so they defaulted to the cheapest third party seller, who unfortunately isn't that cheap. Last I checked they were being sold by some company called Flux Shuffle. On Walmart she is being sold by ToyWiz. It's very annoying because those companies probably bought her FROM Amazon / Walmart, then turned around and listed her for a higher price. I hate scalpers.

That is strange and sketchy that they would have used some random deviantart user's photos as placeholder photos on any life listing, whether you had to dig for it or not, but wow. I mean companies have done dumber things, too. But well, I'll take that as good news, and I guess be glad I can share the originals of those images.

First of all I wasn't trying to imply that I thought the tumblr post was attempting to scam anyone. That's the result of my rewriting that post a couple of times, I'd been more direct about that initially. Second, if I'm understanding that right, that's pretty cool. I'm mostly inactive on tumblr but I've followed your blog for a long time.

Will White Stripe Nova become known something as “First Issue Nova” or “First Edition Nova” or something like that do we think? Maybe “Nova Wave 1”Heads up! Hang on to your WHITE swirl ponies, because THEY may be the variant!

Personally I like the pink stripe. It feels way more accurate and I felt the white got a bit lost on her body. Of course this does make it more interesting though from the collectibility point of view

Yep, I run the Heck Yeah Pony Scans blog! No worries, I just didn't want people concerned that there was a scammer out there. Yeah, it wasn't the brightest move, but they probably didn't expect anyone in the general public to see it. The only reason I became aware of the listings was that I periodically check this really weird Tumblr which, as far as I can tell, is run by a bot that trawls through Amazon's MLP listings. And every time it finds a new listing it posts it with an affiliate link, hoping to earn a few cents if people click through. Usually BF uses pics of vintage ponies before they finalize their listings, but obviously the Celestial ponies don't have vintage versions.
Speaking of the Celestials, I contacted BF's customer support and got the same answer that Ryan K. did about Nova! The white version is being replaced by the pink version because pink is more accurate to the original backcard art. It's so interesting to me that they changed her at this late stage. I'd love to be a fly on the wall and find out how these things get decided. Did two employees argue passionately over her stripe color or . . . ? Anyway, I love variants and I already have the white-striped version so this is a win for me, lol!
