Band-Aid adhesive residue--it won't come off!

This is driving me crazy! :seestars:

I have this gorgeous practically mint G3 I found at a thrift store, but someone had put an (unused) bandaid around its backside, with the adhesive strips having been over the places where symbols would be on each side (but of course, being G3, she only has a symbol on one).

The adhesive residue is giving me a run for my money. I've tried rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover, but to no avail. The plastic still feels tacky (though most of the actual adhesive is gone). If I use a magic eraser, tiny tiny fibers of it come off and stick. I'm afraid to go further for fear of damaging the symbol or taking it off entirely.

She has glitter on her wings, so I can't boil her whole body, but I guess I could try just boiling her rear end? lol

Eagerly awaiting any suggestions :)

Well. You can try goo gone. That gets all sorts of stickyness off. Works well. HOWEVER. not sure if it will damage pony or symbol. Use at own risk

I was just about to suggest goo gone as well. We can pick it up at our local dollarama. I'd also be afraid of what it might do to the pony symbol....

goo gone would be my suggestion too...test it on a bait pony first?

I'll pm you the cure! It's not very safe is all!

I've had some luck with other sticky plastic - not MLP - with olive oil. I put a thick coating on the residue and let it sit over night and then cleaned it off with alcohol. I'm not sure what this would do to the symbol but I wouldn't think the oil would hurt???

When we were little my mom always attacked band-aid residue on our skin with baby oil.... I don't know how well it would work on ponies, but since you're at your wit's end already..... XD

Stain remover works well like Shout. But you have to use a generous amount and then let it sit. For a few hours maybe days depending on how bad it is. Then you wipe it off with water.

Try using Goof-Off 2 - I used it to clean up the sticky residue on a deflocked Paradise once and it worked wonders. The one I have is the plastic-safe version or whatever. It never damaged any paint for me, but then again I've heard that some deflocked ponies have had their paint preserved by whatever process they underwent to be flocked in the first place. I suppose it would be worth looking into, at least! Good luck!

Try using baby oil - test it on a bait pony first, and see if it removes any paint before using it on the pony. Surfers use it to remove tar from their surfboards or feet, so it shouldn't hurt the pony's symbol, but I'd test it first.

Ris beat me to it, but I use baby oil to get it off my skin too. Hopefully something here has worked for ya :)

What everyone else said lol
Any kind of oil; baby, olive, tea tree will do the trick.

I got a Medley Tape dispenser which was virtually covered in 20 year old sticky tape - it was brown! I dipped a q-tip on tea tree oil and rubbed it off and the thing looks like new.
It also took a very stubborn sticker off my microwave :)

Goo Gone will not harm the symbol. I've used it to get sticker residue off all sorts of things, even backing cards on action figures. I had to use it one time to get some sort of sticky gunk out of a pony's tail. Works great!

Just DO NOT confuse it with Goof Off. That seems to be where everyone messes up. Goo Gone is the totally safe, orange oil-based cleaner in a spray bottle that says it can remove lipstick, tar and crayon. Goof Off is the heavy duty solvent in a metal canister, and it's used to remove old paint. Goo Gone smells like oranges and won't hurt your skin... Goof Off says to use gloves and eye protection.

(Hoping that clears it up once and for all so people will quit mixing the two up, LOL.)

aloe baby butt wipe.. they even take the left over wax , after a wax job. :p

hi, try baby powder. Sprinkle it very thickly over the ....goo. Heavy enough to completly "dry" to goo. Let sit for a little while, then rub it off...use the pad of your finger. You will need to go slowly and carefully over the symbol. This has worked well for me. Good luck
