Very pic heavy!
Ok,you already saw BCC's welcome pictures.
After she arrived, first order of business was
a good night's sleep. Next morning, her big
brothers tried to help her comb her hair:
And she played with some cousins. Wow, lookit
all the toys!
Then she met some of the locals. Some were more
friendly than others...
Jessie (wishing for breakfast):
**whew* Close call.
Aslan (still too sleepy to think BCC is pink
kitty treats):
Detmer the koi, standoffish:
Then she came to work with me. Like most kids,
she just *had* to take a photocopy of herself.
:-/
And here she is checking out the tow trucks. As
my husband says, "Sooner or later, everyone
meets the hook." Not usually so
up-close-and-personal, though!
Oooooh, big ones...
Then while we ran errands, we checked out the
local tourist attractions.
First the Mercer Museum, our local "castle",
which holds a fine collection of early American
implements. We didn't go in, but she was wowed
by the size.
Then a stop at the Michener Art Museum. See her
up there?
Unfortunately, the Muppets exhibit is already
gone, otherwise she would have gotten to meet
Kermit!! But there are other things of interest
on the grounds, such as The Face (she was
getting a little nervous, there)
And the "transition" sculpture which looks more
like a blue whale to me. BCC concurred.
The Michener Museum used to be the Bucks County
Prison up until about 24+ years ago or so. Here
she is on the door playing jailbait.
On through town past the Courthouse, aka The
Toilet Bowl (circular courthouse with
rectangular office bulilding attached. *Who*
designed this without considering its
appearance from above??) If you notice the banners with faces hanging from posts? All through the Courthouse grounds are banners like that, with images of soldiers our area has lost in the Middle East from 2001 on.
Then we drove past Fonthill, which was the home
of Henry Mercer who collected all the
implements in the Mercer (aha!) museum, and who built a bunch
of really weird buildings like this one:
It's full of things made at the Moravian
Tile Works, all made from clay mined not far from
here. The tile works is still in operation! The tile works is in the backyard of Fonthill,
so we stopped in the gift shop and found lots
of horsey things. BCC was very understanding
about not getting any souvenirs.
Another weird building...
Another cool door...
And inside the weird building with the cool
door are... PONIES!!
And other less interesting things, but she was
polite and let me look, and even acted
interested.,
On the way to lunch, we passed one of the Miles
of Mules mules, whom she had to stop and see.
My what big nostrils you have, grandpa!!
Oh look! Look Another one!! (they're all over
the place around here, but she finally
understood we couldn't just stop the car in the
middle of the intersection to go visit).
She wasn't thrilled with our lunch...
MORE SUGAR!
WHERE'S THE OATS??
Once back home, she met the buns, Hash Brown
(the light colored one), Pooka (he's the one
who sits in the food bowl in my avatar; the
shadowy ears in these pics) and Nephilim (the
darkest one).
Finally some decent food!!
The mail brought a new arrival, whom she
greeted. Any guesses who it is?
Nap time at last, with some old friends.
Later, she wanted to go canoeing but I had to
explain that it's not feasible at 37F (3 C).
Then she got to meet El Rey Del Sol. Or pay
homage, more like.
And before she snuggled into her package to
travel off to KitKatVintage's house, she
checked out the Valentine's from the Valentine
card swap.
We'll miss your cheery lil face, BCC! Come again
sometime.
