Sailor Moon Customs Swap - Round 2 ~ CLOSED - July 2009

>.> no libra she is done, just needs a bow in the back and the cover for the buns. I've got extra baits i want to fiddle with, there is a craft fair coming up, and i kinda want rent a booth.

Ah ok. I misunderstood from you previous post.

Ooo, a craft fair. Those are fun sometimes depending on who comes. Best of luck there. One cool thing is the beach in a little bottle and just about all materials for that can be gotten at Michael's. Another simple thing is to go purchase some flowers and vases at the dollar store and get the liquid glass stuff at the craft store or some stones from the craft store with ribbons and create a nice arrangment. If you can find the metal clips, you can create hair bows/accessories as well. You can make an actual bow or just decorate the bar with different themes like stars or seashells, etc. Those are just some quick ideas if you are running short on time.

I'm waiting on the email back from the lady. if she doesn't email me i'll wait for the next one base. :)

It's almost the weekend. How are the remaining few's progress going? Anyone else receive theirs yet? I would really like to get this swap wrapped up by the end of the month, May, please. I've got another swap in the works I'd like to get started, but not until this one is finished.

I got mine to day, off to pm the person, the post office held her for 10 days. because of the change of addie

My pony has symbols/sculpting and I've crafted the little extra doohickeys that I lost, so I'm just arguing with the outfit now, and then on to rehair, and I've got all my hair and the tool and fabrictac glue (and extra needles), so hopefully that shouldn't take long.

What I AM worried about is sealing her... I have Modge Podge matte (bought Testor's Dullcoat spray but they wouldn't let me on the plane with it, even in my luggage  ), but am I supposed to thin it? I've also got a little gloss clear coat thing for the eyes that came out of the Testor's case (not Testor's brand), but I'm worried because it's just slightly yellow. :/ I've never done this before, and I'm REALLY afraid to screw up all the work I've put into this custom. Can someone hold my hand and show me how? *hangs head*

I have to drop my husband off at the airport in the morning, then I'll come home and get right back on it. I'll try to take some WIP pics for you, SL, and I'm really sorry it's taking me so long (and Willow, you've been so patient!). I hope to finish her this week, barring an act of God.

Bubbles - you can thin it if you want, it really makes no difference that I've ever seen. I thinned it a few times to seal full body repaints - seemed to go on better, but seled the same.

As for the other stuff - I've never sealed anything glossy, so I can't help you there.

Good luck!

Sorry for the late response, I was out for the day yesterday.

For that gloss sealer, I'd be leary if it's yellow now. It'll probably do the same thing on the pony. Take a scrap of something and just paint a small test area on it to see how it does after a day or so.

Modge podge to me is too sticky. I've got a custom here that I got from someone else who used modge podge and it's still sticky. The hair sticks to it, etc. It's about as sticky as a used lint roller is, if that gives you any idea. And it's a great magnet to hold dust on.

One of the best sealers actually comes in those little paint bottles like the delta creamcoats. You can get the varnish for interior in either a matte, satin, or gloss finish. They all seal very nice and don't cause any harm to the custom. For a super shiney and thick finish, I'd pick up the triple coat sealer. That stuff is really thick. It's not the consistency of the others. If you are still in the US right now, go to michaels and look for the sealers. They are usually in the next aisle over from the paints down where the glass work stuff is. It's called a varnish and works well. I've got a custom from around 3 years ago now that I put the delta stuff on and it still looks good minus the dust.

Puu was me for a side project at the SM forum ;)

Thank you for the update BL. I'll put the paddle away now. :p

The deadline for this swap to be wrapped up is the end of May, May 31st, 2009. If you still need to ship one out, please do so no later than the 5/31/09. If you go past that, a neutral will be left in your feedback. You guys have had enough time from the original deadlines to get these completed. If I don't hear anything from anyone once this deadline has passed, within a few days, a negative will be left for your swap feedback.

Guys, these deadlines are important and are set for a reason. You all know that feedback can make or break you and I really don't want to leave anyone a negative.

I know many are running into problems, but can we at least get some progress shots, that way your partners who are expecting will get some reassurance of some form. Please guys. Don't let me down!

Hello~ Still here, still working. Unfortunately had some down time due to major in house problems, but all is well now. I don't have hair yet, but I did finally get a "processing" email from CP.com yesterday. >_>; Maybe I should just reorder from DH.com. It'll probably get here faster. @_@; Either way, I have everything I need except hair. I'll report back again in a couple days. :3

Thanks for the update. I do greatly appreciate it. As long as you guys are posting and giving us a heads up, we should be good to go.

I would really like to see some photos from everyone please. Even if they are in progress shots with no hair or in the middle of being painted. :)

I'm in contact with my partner. i have some school work tonight and need to start my final. So i'm not going to try to do anything until monday. after my final

Just keep us posted.

How are things going for the rest of you guys? Bubbles, Willow?

Hey, here's a progress shot as requested. I had hoped to have more done, but every idea I had kept getting shot down due to lack of talent. Dx I'm really not cut out for this stuff after all. >_>; I have a fabric skirt; hopefully, with some luck I'll have a fabric collar also. (ETA: I also have fabric for bows.) I can't for the life of me cut one that works. Would anyone be willing to share one that does? ;_; If not, I'll end up trying to sculpt it instead; although, that'd make the custom unbalanced (I think).

I suppose it's pretty obvious who I chose? ^^;

ETA (again): The bodysuit sculpting is fresh because I couldn't make a fabric one to save my life. I guess that explains why I bought a premade one when I did my Sailor Neptune cosplay all those years ago. xD Oh, if only they made pony-shaped bodysuits. *_*

She's coming along pretty good. It's the earrings that give her away. She's really cute. :) Thanks for the updates.

Now for me to corral some of those others back this way for some updates.

SL, you have a PM. I didn't know if you wanted us to post public links if it's pretty obvious who our character is.

I finally found a sealant, and am working as fast as possible to finisher her.
