For those who haven't played before, the step threads are for our photos only. Oh, and don't forget to turn off those sigs when you post your pics in the step threads!

We can chat about the steps and post our blooper/outtake pics and past years' pics in separate threads. I think the rule for bloopers/outtakes is that they can only be posted after the step closes.

Here's my ice pic (*lol* ice pic-k...) from the last time this step was done.
picture.php

I'm going to have to wait until later to start my frozen pony. My freezer is currently filled with things to make pretzel salad for two baby showers this weekend.

Thanks for starting this discussion thread, Skig! I can always count on you to come up with creative titles too!

For everyone else, this is a fun thing so we don't want to "unfun" it up with so many rules, but remember to glance through the rules so we can keep the step threads separate and easier to score. It'll make it easier on the judges. Thanks!

Photo Thread posting:
The ONLY posts accepted within each step/bonus photo threads are photo entries. Please keep comments and explanations to separate threads within the Hunt Forum. These threads need to be kept free of comments to enable easy viewing so the hunters and mods can easily see the entries and not lose track of things.
~Comments in the Step/Bonus Threads will be deleted~

I've copied the comments from the other post and have placed them below. If I moved them the normal way, they'd go above skig's post because they were posted first chronologically, so it would make this thread make less since, which is why I've done it the following way.

Oh, I can't wait! I saw some pics of years past, this is sure going to be chilly for the poor pony!

haha... who will be my victim... *goes to plot cryogenics*

...and this really won't destroy a pony?

should be fine as long as you let the pony thaw on it's own. trying to force it out of ice is what may damage it

Poor Fluttershy! The humanity of it! D=

Regarding messing up the pony:

This step was done a few other times (or maybe just twice before) and it does not destroy the pony, but I would suggest using a good-fair pony instead of one of your mint ponies, just in case. It probably takes the curl out of the hair, and may possibly squish the body, but it would most likely come back to shape.

Any of you guys who have done this previously want to chime in on if this messed up your pony in any way?

And I have a few more tips on freezing:

If you want to keep it free of air bubbles, which makes the pony hard to see, try pouring the water by hitting the side of the bowl (like you pour a beer) so that it runs down the side- this way it creates less air bubbles.

Also, if you really wanted to make it clear, you could buy distilled of deionized water to use, but I really doubt it'd make that much of a difference.

Mine is at home in the freezer as we speak.
Should be ready tomorrow for pictures.

About hurting the pony:
For these kinds of tasks I just try to use a bait pony so I dont take the chance of hurting a pony I really like.
I dont think when I did this last year it harmed the pony in any way. Its just water.

so sorry! I read the instructions and totally blanked when I went to post!

as for my frozen pony - I had to melt some if it and refreeze because you can't see her :( too many crystals formed on it overnight.

I would also suggest freezing a bottom layer to stand the pony on then adding pony and more water. Otherwise, if you do an extended photo shoot, trying to get THE best possible angle (snort), you risk having the bottom melt and the pony start to escape. hehe. I managed to get a couple shots in before the melting began, but I took a whole lot of pics and you can see the progression of the melt--more and more foot poking out. Haha. Probably sped things up a bit by putting candles right next to the ice. :bonk:

I remember this step..... I had 3 different attempts to get it right, the g1 baby kept floating to the surface .
I need to find a g4, this time.

How did you get the ice so clear? On mine you can mostly only see her hair, ugh! I hope that's ok, I on't want to put poor Luna through that again, don't want anothe rNightmare Moon incident :p!

I'm on like, redo number 3. I cannot seem to get the ice to freeze clear enough. sooo frustrating!

Right now, I'm enjoying the overwhelming number of people who've chosen Pinkie Pie. *lol* So did you pick her because she annoys you or annoyed you in past generations? Or did you pick her because she'd probably think it's fun to be frozen solid?

Willow, she's gorgeous! How did you get your ice so clear?

Thanks!
I'm as surprised as you!
I just used tap water and made sure it was very hot when I poured it into the cup.

I picked PPie cause I have 3 of her  I used the Valentine one, I'm not particularly fond of.

Everyones looks awesome!
I have a styling size & normal size Rarity in there but you can only see the styling size.

Ooo Mori LS--a frozen PUMPKIN! how cool!

Pinkie Pie ended up as pure chance for me. I froze five different ponies at the same time and Pinkie just ended up with the clearest ice.

Willow I love how clear the ice is in yours.

MyLittleLofty I like the lighting in yours. Was that a flashlight?
