Ok, so I can't sleep and had this idea.

Everyone should post pics of their top 3 proudest custom accomplishments.

Wether it was those tiny symbols you couldn't believe you managed to paint or the giant wings you sculpted or even that amazing hair blend you came up with. Or maybe some new technique you tried. Share with us!

Post the 3 customs you're proudest of and list why.

This has to be one of my faves. It was for the Breeding swap and was a cross of Night Glider and Cloud Puff. I impressed myself with how well my symbols turned out and just the overall paintjob.

This was done for the first Fairy swap I was in and I believe was only the second time I'd made printed wings. I loved the way they turned out and loved the way my symbol came out as well.

This was for the mermaid swap and was the second merpony I've ever made. She's waaayy better than my first attempt.

So now tell me, what are you proudest of?

I haven't made any customs yet, but I can't wait to see more posts on this thread!! *drools over awesome ponies*

Ooh!! Luckily, I haven't made many..so here are mine!

This is Rosella, my FIRST finished custom. I love her because it was my first sculpting job, and her roses came out perfect!! (Not like they were hard ;p)

Then I have this gorgeous girl I made for TiggerKitn for the other Halloween swap. First time making clothing, her eyes came out perfect (dunno how that happened), and I slightly sculpted her symbol. I think she came out well overall. Oh, AND her baby as well!! I loved the candy corms! (They were a package deal ;P)

Last but not least..is ..this gorgeous guy I made for the Halloween Swap 09, for MidnightFireflies!! Full body repaint, sculpting (second time doing that!), carving, AND I added an led light inside of his body!!! Oh, plus he has a Halloween costume (based off of No Face from Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away).

Alright. Well, first off, I made this pony last winter for a friend, and she was a MONSTER. Everything went wrong. The dye wouldn't color the mane and tail, so I ended up having to re-hair her when I hadn't planned that. Then the dye ran through the paint and I had to strip and seal and re-paint. That lovely bit destroyed the mane and tail I had done, so I had to re-re-hair her. Then when I did the snow-flecks, the dye ran through AGAIN despite being sealed--I suspect because of the small amount of acetone in the spray paint to keep it from clogging. So I had ended up doing the legs about 4 times. So things I'm proud of 1: I beat the pony into submission despite her struggles and 2: she's candy-cinnamon scented by way of stuffing her full of Big-Red chewing gum. (The BF's suggestion.)

Next up is Politics and Religion. She's for my Ma-in-law this year for Christmas. I like the "acid-wash" effect I got by dying and then wiping lightly with acetone. Sadly, it doesn't show up well in the pictures.

Last up is my persona pony. This one is a sort of remake, and I did a MUCH better job on the symbol this time than I did originally. Also, this is about the only time that a dye job has worked perfectly. The body and hair and gradient are all exactly what I was going for.

This pony is definitely in my top-3. I think she really is a BAMF. She was my fourth custom, and as I recall it was the first time I felt I really got the eyes right...and there's a little bit of sentiment in there because I designed it with my little friend. Plus I got to paint some sweet tats on her. XD

This is Dragonfly. I made her for LLBPonyGirl in a private swap. She was my second completed custom (3rd started), and the reason I fell in love with yarn hair. When I look at pictures of her now I'm struck by the muted color palate I chose...a bit of a gamble, but I think it works well.

This one was for the '08 winter swap. She was loosely based on Winter Miser from those claymation Christmas movies. I guess I'm a big fan of 'less is more' when it comes to my customs.

Hmmm, top three...

Number one is Steampunk Pegasus -- a lot of different techniques on this one:
steampunk1.jpg

Number two is Shubunkin, as that was pretty much a total sculpting job (and my first time doing this much sculpting, ever) -- only her head to about the area of her necklace is MLP:
hippocampus025.jpg

Number three is a reproduction of the G3 TAF Pony Project pony. When I posted this originally a couple years ago, I fooled Diet Otaku at first thinking this was the real pony. I was really flattered, and I'm sorry I don't have a better picture of her.
tafproject.jpg

TAF might get bumped off the list with the next commission I'm working on, but it's secret right now. ;)

I have three.

The first is Legend. She was the first one I applied symbol shading and scrolls to, not to mention so tiny >.> .

P9190240.jpg

The second is Banshee. I put my heart and soul into this one. I really did.

The third is the one, the only..My Little Thinker.
TheThinker016.jpg

Wow. Looking back at all of mine, it's hard to choose just three. Hmm... I'll say...

Spooky Sweet. I love everything about her, but I absolutely adore the hair blend that I chose.
SpookySweet01.jpg

Gochikku Bara because that was the most epic sewing I've ever done. Probably won't ever do it again, but I impressed myself.
GoBara04.jpg

And G'mork, who was my first ever sculpted custom. There really is a pony under there! I'm really pleased and surprised with how well he turned out.
Gmork02.jpg

my 3 choices would have to be.......

S7305529.jpg

edgarandsig.jpg

sig and edgar pony. obscuria asked me to make her them and i was happy to. they were my first attempts at making furry boy hooves and my first time full body paint with a sponge. i love how they turned out and that the guys they represent love them too.

S7306031.jpg

S7306032.jpg

S7306033.jpg

S7306034.jpg

pvc ss sundance and magic star. they were so fun to make. even more fun gluing the fun flock all over their body. their symbols were so small, a bit tricky to do, but i got them just right. i wouldn't mind making more. i love them, but they are both for sale.

S7306853.jpg

S7306849.jpg

S7306864.jpg

S7306867.jpg

and lastly, i guess i'd have to go with my 2 bng customs. they were my first time making a custom out of them. they were a bit difficult getting the head off and getting the mechanism out and put back together and still work, but i did it. obscurias northwest and jupiter_oskis medley. both a present for them.

Thanks so much to sweetlittlejenny for this thread idea - you guys are amazing! My mother-in-law is an artist & I have been trying to convince her to try her hand at customizing Ponies. I'm going to use this thread to inspire her!!!

I love how BBD has two of each oh the type of custom she's proud of... they're so great but I still want your summer wing!

I'm going to post links because my original pictures are gone and the collages are a bit large ^^;;

Most proud of:
Newborn Cat
It's a very very simple custom, but the symbol is insane. I'm still not sure how I pulled it off!

Let's see...
I also like the Gingerbread pony I made for BBD for the winter swap. It came out EXACTLY as I envisioned her =3 (even IF the scarf took 3 tries!)

And...
I'm gonna have to go with last year's Winter Swap that I made for Angel Blue. Nothing spectacular and I've never been totally awed by her, but she was the very first swap pony I made =)

Not in order...

Made for the Maryland Pony Meet.
Custom_MGR_Maryland_Pony_by_whippet.jpg

Still owned by myself...my knight!
Steel_Rose_by_whippetluv.jpg

And another I also still own!
the_annual_reindeer_custom_by_whipp.jpg

But even though this is a fourth (ducks) it is probably my favorite custom I have EVER made and I truly regret selling it. I wish I knew who had it so I could try to buy it back. Ah well...guess I just need to remake it.
Bride_of_Frankie_by_whippetluv.jpg

I need to get into making customs more...it's been too long. With the exception of the first one, all were made in around 2007. Ugh. toooo long!

wow, whippet! I've never seen any of your customs, they're so good! I love your Knight and Reindeer!

Beautiful work with the mermaid pony! Her tail is incredable! And the tigerlilly fairy! WOW! Her wings are amazing! ANd you did a grat job with the painting details!

Everyone has some great examples of their work! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks zombiekeet!

wow, next tot hese mine look like soemthing a five year old did!

Whippet, your customs rock. I'm the proud owner of her MD pony! Oh heck yeah :p

Ok I think I have a few.

Lolita, I think she is my best sculpted outfit.
Lolita_by_Hindsightis2020.jpg

Herbal Meadow, my 1st sculpted wings. Very happy with them :)

Savannah, I think for being the cutiest.
Savannah_by_Hindsightis2020.jpg

It was hard to pick!

I've only made 2 customs so far, so it wasn't hard to pick one!

This was Misty Blue for a G3 to G1 swap. I was very pleased with how she turned out, especially her symbol.
