Your first MLP memory?

I can't really recall the dates in order for my first memory. I remember I had a baby Firefly that went everywhere with me. Also, I got the open mouth Starshine plush for Christmas one year from my grandparents. Plus, I remember going to Walmart and picking out a pony & seeing them on their cards. I got a Skyflier.

My first pony memory is that I did not like them and only wanted to play with "real" horses lol

I didnt want no colorful ponies

i can't really remember my 'first' pony memory but an early memory of mine is playing all the old G3 flash games on the family desktop computer back in our old apartment. this was likely from 2005 - 2008 when i would've been 4 to 7 years old... good old days <3 oh and playing with all my ponies in the bathtub, lol, idk if they ever got tail rust at all

I also remember the mailorders and baby ember. :)
I remember them too!

The first Ember mail orders you had to specify your favourite colours in order, but you were only given three options: blue, pink or purple. I kept wondering if you chose purple first then blue second, if you would get a baby pony with a purple body and blue hair or a blue pony with purple hair.

I was disappointed when it came back purple but with pink hair. I didn't like pink: it was at the bottom of my list. So I tried again and put blue first and purple second, but the baby pony was blue on blue, no purple. A friend had opted for pink and blue second, and it had purple hair, not blue.

I remember being annoyed with Hasbro, and wondering what game they were playing, offering custom colour preferences, but then only supplying three pre-chosen ponies! But the blue 'Ember' (who I've Christened Dewy) is still a favourite of mine.

I think I got the pink body with purple hair. I also remember that I got birthflower pony September. The mail orders bring back great memories. I still am happy I have the horseshoe points on my 2 mib moc backcards. :)

I always look back so fondly on when I discoverd MLPs and I wondered what is everyones first or most prominent memory of MLP? Or some of your favorite MLP memories if not the firsts?

I cant remember which was the exact first time I saw one but I can remember the feeling. They were the most magical thing little 3-4 year old me had ever seen! Finding a pony among the hundreds of tables at large flea markets was such an adventure!

It always will be but back then, I was born in the weird in between when G1 had ended and G2 hadn't started yet. There werent any ponies at the store or information to find about them. All I knew is they were my little ponies. Every time my mom and I went to a flea market I would always think, What kind of pony will i find today? I had no idea what kinds hasbro had released, it was always a surprise.

One fun memory is when I was a little older, about 6. We had found a really cluddered thift shop where everything was stacked on top of each other there weren't any tables, just piles! There was a sign on a wall saying " If you cant reach it you cant have it" hahaha it was bizzare. I remember running from my mom in search of ponies and eventually squeezed my way through two old china cabinets to find a glass case that was crooked, kind of propped sideways on a pile of things. There before me in that crooked cabinet was a display of ponies! There was a Medley, Moondancer, Skydancer, Majesty, and a few more I dont remember.

Needless to say little me lost it haha. We were able to get two I think. We couldnt afford more. We went back every pay day to buy another! I also got a Clydesdale horse that had been sitting below the case. He has been a long time friend to my ponies! I dont remember if we ever bought all the ponies but we got most of them. I went back as a teenager to find the same glass case and it was empty. So they must have all gotten homes if not mine haha. I got Moondancer, Majesty, SkyDancer, and Medley from that case. <3
I remember being in Zellers with my aunt and sister. My aunt decided to buy me and my sister a toy, and we decided on a 4 pack of G3 ponies made for the 25th anniversary. My older sister got the pink and purple ones (because those were her favourite colours) and I got the green and white ones. I remember playing with them a bit, but I was more into barbies and LPS at the time. I also got a Princess Promenade VHS around the same time, but it was around that time our VCR started not working properly. My MLP obsession really started with G4 when I got my first pony of that generation (Applejack) around the time the show premiered. I was obsessed with all the ponies, toys and the show too. Eventually, my aunt passed down her childhood G1 ponies to me, so that’s when I started getting interested into other generations. Now I have an army of all generations!

I remember collecting and playing with the original gen ponies when I was growing up. I really loved my Whirly fairy pony most and I would bring her everywhere with me! I also remember being like 4-5 years old and I would be playing with my neighbor and at 4pm we both would stop and run into our own houses to watch MLP. (This was in the early 90s)

Most kids (mine for instance) ask for a puppy every Christmas, I asked for a ’real’ pony every birthday, Christmas, holiday, any time I was asked, until I got one when I was 9. ;) I wore them down!

Well, i didnt want like a living pony lol i just wanted toy horses, not ponies ♥

I dont think i ever asked for a real pony for Christmas though, i as the puppy kid lol

Never wanted a puppy as a kid, because there a bunch of them around already, also I'm not that fond of dogs.

Baby Firefly was my first baby pony too I think! I loved/love her so much still. Thats so cool you got a plush!! I never got one until my mid twenties when I found one on ebay for cheap haha. Its weird because as a child i vividly remember having an adult Firefly to go with my baby one but once I got a little older I realized I didnt. Its so weird.. I did the same thing with Queen Chrysalis in college I thought I bought her and remembered holding her in my hands, only to figure out years later I never bought her at all. College must have warped my brain and confused a memory with a Nightmare Moon or something lol! Unless theyre lost in the void somewhere but I dont even have the packaging. I am missing a few ponies i know I have though  Theyve been lost for years im not sure where they are. They have to be in my house somewhere but I have no idea where.

Oh that sounds really confusing back then! They must have presented it in a really confusing way. The blue is also my favorite. <3 I was born right as g1 ended so I didnt have the chance to get one through the mail. I found my blue Ember at a flea market and remember thinking " It has authentic eyes and good quality, but no symbol? Is this fake or real? If its fake its the best fake ive ever seen". I was too young to know who made them or to look for it on their hooves haha. Im glad I got her. <3

The mail orders sound like so much fun!! Im forever sad I never got any!;-; I actually had enough points for the g2 SeaBreeze mail order when g2 came out but neither me or my mom knew about it so I never got it. :ugh: I did however get a lot of cereal box mail aways at the time for other things so at least I sent in points of some kind haha!

That sounds wonderful!! <3:lolpony:

Its hard to say what my first memory is, but I have a couple strong memories. When I was 10 or so, I remember my grandma gifting me a Wigwam pony and I treasured it so much. She was really my younger siblings grandma (they have a different dad) and she often left me out of gifting or got me dollar store items while my siblings got expensive gifts. I was happy she realized I liked My Little Ponies and got me such a great one. I had it for years before it was lost in a move.

I also remember one Easter when I was in 5th or 6th grade, I used my own allowance money to buy my little sisters baby twin ponies for their baskets. I felt so proud of myself for resisting buying them for myself because I wanted them so bad lol!

Wow, I am super impressed with y'all's memories. My brain is terrible for that. I don't have many active memories left from early childhood. I know I collected ponies because I love them and because my cousins (who also lived right next door) and I had over 400. And I remember THAT because we entered a contest by lining them all up on my front porch and having my mom take our picture with them. Then we had to wait to get the FILM developed, so we could send in the picture to learn whether we won the pony they were giving away. Funny thing is, I can't remember whether we won that pony!! I can only remember staging the picture, taking it, and then waiting forever for it to come back, and then sending it in! I am sure I still have a copy of that picture somewhere, so I will try to go through my photo albums and post it here later today.

Aww I love reading pony memories!

The first memory I have is playing with my first ponies (Firefly and Medley) at my mom's boyfriend's parents' house, flying them around the living room, and the two of them getting into an argument over whether Medley's name was Medley or Melody, because I wasn't 100% sure myself (and I kind of knew what a melody was, or at least that it was a word, but I didn't yet know what a medley was). :lolpony: Firefly kept calling her Melody and Medley was like NO MY NAME IS MEDLEY.

That is a great memory! Its hard to remember too early for me too. I wasn't too young in any of the memories I shared, those are just the ones that stick out to me. :) I think I have earlier memories of Barbies because I got them younger than I got ponies.

I just have some oddly early memories…. Something with genetics and how visual I am. My brother can remember teaching himself how to read when he was two, and I have bits of memory from around age 1.

I think one of the things that I love about MLP so much is I have so many fond memories of playing with them as a kid. All of the girls in our neighborhood would get together and play ponies. There was no fighting or nonsense, we would just come together and play and be happy. I feel like MLP and Care Bears really bring out the best in people (if that makes sense).

I had one of those massive G3 Pinkie Pie plushies that I would take with me everywhere I went. I remember my mom sewing me a dress using a pink fabric that had Star Catcher and Pinkie Pie all over it. I also remember going to my childhood best friend's house where we would play ponies together. My pony obsession got to the point where my stepdad-at-the-time would call me "little pony." He sometimes still does.

Its not a early memory, but I just thought of a wild one! Around when I was in college my mom and I would always drop off our recycle at the dump once a week or so. I was really busy one day so I stayed at home while she went. Theres a table there where people can leave stuff anyone might want to claim, theres usually like decorations and stuff. If its there for more than a few days its thrown in the trash.

Fast forward to my mom coming home 15 minutes later screaming for me and holding a trash bag. Lo and behold someone had thrown a bag of G1 ponies out at the dump!!! I had a heart attack at the thought of them being thrown away like garbage!! I clutched onto them and cleaned them all up. I dont know how long they were there for. Thank goodness my mom looked in the bag!!

I cant remember exactly which ponies they were now its been so long. It was several baby ponies, i think a happy tails pony, and a flutter pony. There may have been other adult ponies, maybe a Sundance? I still have them but ive forgotten exactly which ones some were.

Whats worse is theres a Goodwill type donation store and a Habitat for Humanity just down the road. I dont know why they chose to throw them in a trash dump!:madpony:
