~~*Works in Progression- Lightning/Serah/Lumina from Final Fantasy XIII-2/Lightning Returns*~~

Figured it would be fun to post all of the work in progress pics that go into my craft that I've been sending to a customer that's dropping a $400.00+ commission job on me of Final Fantasy and Frozen customs~

Taking lots and lots of pictures~ I just love the characters so much. I've done.... I think, this is my 7th version of the character Lightning Claire Ferron. I've done her in various outfits. This particular one, will be of her full armor design from ffxiii-2, and this is my 3rd time doing the armor. I've kept card stock patterns from the first time I made her.

Then Serah, this is my second time doing this particular outfit from ffxiii-2, and I think the 4th version of Serah I've done as I've also done her in her alternate outfits.

Then Serah's moogle companion~ I think this is my 3rd time making him. And Lumina is a new addition I was eager to accept to this project~ I haven't played Lightning Returns yet, but she feels like a evil reincarnation of Serah of sorts. It's kinda weird.

Anyhoodle, customer wanted Lumina's character custom to be smaller than Serah, I think it works well for a "sprite" aspect since in references it looks like Lumina flies or floats around...

We'll start this off, with the prepped bases I picked out to show the customer~
I pasted little thumbnail refs of the characters over them, teehee~

From left- Lumina, Serah, Lightning then Mog~

Then, got them all prepped and base coats of full body repaints started~

Then went through and painted their eyes all in one shot~
I believe I sat down and dedicated a solid day's worth of work to pump these out~

And then, composed a cutie mark concept for Lightning that the customer requested, had to sketch it and color it with watercolor pencils on paper. Got mog painted as well~

And then, Mog complete!

So with the Lightning Rose Cloud concept composed, I was able to transfer it to the ponies~ she wanted Lumina to have a black version of the rose cloud, and Serah to have a princess crown.

And now, I'm pumping out the hair jobs!

Whew, this is taking a bit, but its so worth the work~ I could never get enough of these gals. ^3^

She's fairly hard to find, but it's a lot harder to find her without head-body mismatch, which this one has a terrible case of.

Ah, interesting~

I tend to swipe up brand new G4 ponies for my custom bait supply, and de-box them when I get home. Probably had her around for a couple years, then showed her to my customer which chose her for this project.

Converting a collectible g4 pony to a $448.00 project....

You could still say I'm de-facing the value of the collector pony? But I prefer the term "re-facing" the value... making the pony worth more than the original, nonetheless.

I can assure no one will catch me ordering mail-order collector ponies for this type of thing though, lol~ Or foreign exclusives... vintage ponies worth $100.00 or more... chances are, I couldn't afford to buy them in the first place XD Unless already baity~

Id agree with @ladyofthenight Her head and body mismatch would certainly affect her "rarity".
I think its a good thing that your customer chose the pony she wanted. Its very similar to her going to buy that in a store and then handing it over to you to work with.

Aaaaaaaahhh ffxiii-2 Chocolina/Treasure chest added to the order.

Got kinda excited over the treasure chest concept, and got a go on that

That is a Carbuncle doll, crafted entirely from beads and floral wire~ then painted it all up after coating it in Gesso.

Customer also wanted tiny pony dolls in the chest along with a moogle, chocobo chick and Lightning's crest

Just got a cactuar to make for it now, Lightning's knife, some more potions and things then it'll be finished~ fun accessory completed then.

Wow, what a project this is.... , the complexity and details is just amazing. The treasure and chest looks great, love all those little trinkets. I'm enjoying the updates

Finished mog and treasure chest accessories to accompany Serah/Chocolina custom ponies~

Got cactuar tucked up inside the lid lol~
all requested details completed including a little crown added to mog.

EDIT: think I forgot to update with Serah's weapon accessories I crafted, as well. Now I've got a few of the more over-whelming accessories out of the way, not so much going on for when it's time to craft the outfits for the gals.

Neko Lightning’s weapon accessories

Commissioned set of weapon accessories to accompany a purchased custom pony of Lightning Ferron from the Play Station 3 video game Final Fantasy: Lightning Returns of Lightning in her Neko mimi outfit.
Custom pony already resides with customer, this weapon set will be shipped along with a larger order of FFXIII project customs to join up with Neko Lightning.

This set started off as thick acorn-colored bear hide leather.

Sword- painted the leather, then traced the card stock pattern onto plastic from pony packaging, then sandwiched the leather between the plastic, painted a silver border on outside of plastic. Made a wooden dowel handle for the sword, painted it charcoal black, wrapped white ribbon around the hilt after laying down a layer of glue.

Used thin black patent vinyl for the smaller triangular details at the base of the blade, painted these pieces in various gray and silver acrylics, detail with rhinestones. For red and black pieces on handle, cut the pieces from red and black authentic leather, detailed them in metallic pewter acrylic paint, triangular painted plastic rhinestones on the red piece. Pinned 2 red beads on the hilt with a pin, and wrapped red ribbon around them with a layer of glue. Round beige pearl and painted square rhinestone details to finish.

Shield- cut a circle from the bear hide leather, painted it gray/metallic pewter. Lined it with pale gray strip of leather, then took white leather strip and cut a design along it to glue along the edge of the shield. Drew out patter on card stock for the red pieces, traced the patter onto red leather then cut it out. Detailed these pieces with metallic red acrylic paint and metallic red rhinestones.

Center detail is a red circle of red leather, detailed in gold and metallic black acrylic paint, metallic gold rhinestones. More metallic red acrylic paint detail surrounding the outside of this, round and tear-drop shaped painted rhinestones detailing the circumference of the shield along the edges to finish.



Slightly bent the shield then layered mod podge on the back of it to keep the shape.

Last update on this project before I take a short break to complete another commission~

Got the shoes and leggings done on Serah~ will finish her attire once I have produced my lolita Flutterbat commission~

Purple pony on the right will be Chocolina, I purchased a metal giant washer for the magnet on the pony to connect to and she poses perfectly on it.

Did this once before for a Thor commissioned custom, these giant metal washers are like, 67 cents. That's it~ and they're perfect stands for magnetic g3 ponies o3o
