Hello!

Remember that beautiful, precious IVF pony Whippetluv made for me? This is my thank you trade for such a special custom.

She's was made with the guidance of my beloved Bellydance instructor, who is also a nationally recognized doll sculptor... Thanks Gia!!

She is a multimedia sculpture (mainly polymer clay) and easily twice the size of your average pony.

Whippetluv has been so patient and responsive in the development of this piece. It was an absolute pleasure to work with her. Thank you Whippetluv!

I'm sure I could tout on and on about how this girly is made, but I better just show her instead. If you want, feel free to ask any questions about her. I'd love to share her development story because, I have to admit, I'm quite proud of her!

..

Its gorgeous. Its the best scupture pony I have ever seen  Do you take commissions? I love her colors and especially that hair. she must of taken you hours, days  Excellent job! :D

kudos_to_kathy:

She was a handful... Whippetluv and I started our commisions on March 1st (just looked it up)....

As far as doing commissions... I'm still weighing the pros and cons... It basically comes down to my lack of time with lots of personal things to balance... but it was so much fun to do this with Whippetluv. I'm still thinking.

Here's one idea I've had brewing:

I'm thinking of making three smaller, but no less detailed ponies. An earth pony, unicorn, and pegasus. I'm going to put some coats of gesso on them and leave them 'blank'. Then, I was thinking of offering them either on the seller's board or Ebay or someplace... whoever buys the pony or wins the bid etc... will get a complimentary paint job customizing that sculpture to whatever character they choose.

Does this idea make sense? I don't want people to have to wait as long as Whippetluv had to, and it will still be an ooak custom sculpture... Would this be of any interest? It's a comprimise, but I think everyone could end up happy :)

Honestly at this point, I don't think I can tie myself down to taking individual commisions... too much to do!

Any comments, or advice is welcome!

....and again....thank you for your kind words!

-Rose

p.s. hope this doesn't breach the marketplace/customs rules

Wow. I can't say anything beyond wow. This is beyond stunning. Completely envious of your sculpting talents! :D

Hamilton should hire you. I think we'd ALL order them then ;)

Seriously, that looks like professional quality. Your sculpture is real ART, something to display in the home and admire for not only years but generations. I think it could even be appreciated by non pony fanatics. O.O

I think your semi comission idea sounds lovely! I'm jumping in line for the pegasus! wow. If I were you, I'd stay away from ebay. I'll bet the price on one of the unfinished ones would easily hit $100+ and fees on that would be...bad. Maybe do a bidding here. You'll have lots of interest and no fees. Do you accept trades as down payments? ;) lol

Not that it's necessary to say, but she is breathtaking. I sat reading all the comments with my jaw and eyes on the floor. You said your belly dance instructor helped you, was that for actually sculpting, or advice? How much does sculpted Whippet weigh? Was she done on a wireframe? Have you taken any sculpting classes before?
I pray she gets to Whippet in 1 piece with no cracks or chips. Beware postmen!
And too, -yikes! I LOVE her pearly colors too. They're so soft. She looks like a goddess
