Hey everyone! I was wondering which Generation you thought was best and why. For me, it's a toss-up between G1 and G3; I love G1 because the toys were very original, and pretty well-made. The stories behind the characters were interesting, and there was a lot of diversity, and the ponies looked like ponies. G3 was a cool generation because there were sooo many different ponies! I just wish that there had been more variety in the G3s, I love flowers, but there are more cutie marks out there!

What do YOU think??
 
That is up to personal preference. All gens have their pros and cons.

My vote goes to G1. The fun fantasy-adventure show, the creativity, diversity, beauty and quality of the toyline and the awesome art style can't be beat.

I've never owned G2s so I can't judge it.

G3 the toys are second best, they're alot like their 80s ancestor and are absolutely beautiful. I love the colors and symbols.

G4 the show aint bad, I can't stand the way they look anatomically, the toyline is dull in terms of diversity and quality and flash art can never be as beautiful as hand drawn art. However there are a lot of pretty ponies and I like how they finally brought gender diversity between species as well as unipegs.

Being a total Pony Ho, I can never decide when I get this question. G1 is *my* generation so I have a deep rooted nostalgia for them, but then again I love the rich colours G3 ushered in. G2 has a whimsical feel to them, and I fancy the style. G4 are very minimal but I can't say no to something that big eyed and desperate looking. 3.5's are sort of my favourites just because they are widely disliked and I feel I must take up for the underdog. In the end, I'll go with G1 out of sheer loyalty.

But since I know they don't get da love, everyone send me all of your Newborn Cuties!

I love G1 hands down. I collect G3 too and love it also. The best for me is G1. I really liked the themes, all the possibilities for creative play, the play sets, the colors, the symbols just everything was so wonderful, well thought out and beautiful. All of the accessories were high quality, fabric pony wear is so much better than snap on molded vinyl. It was just the best by far.

Really? With your mom being the queen of every gen? ;p Maybe I'll send you a G1 or G3 sometime Hank.
 
I said that because I own more g4s than any other gen, I do have one of the g3 talking baby things and a big plastic baby and one g1 sweetheart sister with a mohawk and no tail, plus some fakies but other wise they're all g4s.

I offered him other stuff, but he's a very picky person. SO PICKY
 
I love G1 I grew up with it so very close to my heart. Never saw g2 at all believe it or not so when G 3 came out I was like ok did I miss something. I liked the G3 toys and minty and kimono but the cartoon was just too much surgery good goodness. We I do like. Very minty Christmas.

G3.5 scare me to death sorry but the do. Respect to those that like them but I'll pass.

I love G4 I guess mostly because of the story line and except for EQG no humans in pony world. It's nice to see nods to the old g1 show. The toys don't bother me as with any version I only collect the ones I really like not just the most popular.
 
G1 due to variety!! There are so many sets with a lot of poses and ponies =3 Also a lot of colors =)

G2, even if they didn't have a lot of poses I love the Euro exclusives. And the babies!! And a lot of males!! The colors are amazing too!!

G3: I really like them, but then all the pink gets on my nerves =P They have a lot of poses too!
Most of all I love the collector exclusives and the Fair ponies =3 It started to go downhill with Core 7 and the clone pose =P

G3.5: Sorry but no. They scare me, ao I prefer to leave them to whoever really likes them.

G4: I like them, but quality really leaves a lot to desire. Mismatching body and head colors, (I can't say about hair, but seems it's not the best), lack variety: poses, characters. Really bad availability and distribution =P
 
I didn't vote. "Best" is so subjective. G1's are my favorite, but each generation has cuties and ones I really like. But I would never say one line is the "best".
