I just really, really need you guys' help.

No sob stories, but I'm in a very, very bad home environment that is making my schizophrenia get a lot worse, very quickly. I am trying to clean up my MLPs to sell online in the hope of getting a fund put together to help me get a cheap apartment and pay for my schizophrenia medication and psychiatrist visits.

I collected MLP throughout my childhood, and probably have about 500 g1's including ponies such as a mint Surprise Twins pony with working mechanism and both twins. I also have expensive ponies such as a sealed Bay Breeze. I have a few storage bins of g3s as well in my basement but have not yet found them.

The reason I am asking this is that Ebay was my go-to when looking to buy in the past, but all the auctions I've seen have no interest on them and no bidders. Is etsy a better option? What about here?

Also, any idea where I might be able to get a price guide? I've googled a bit and found a g1 price guide from 2009 or so and what I think is a relatively updated g3 guide. Just any resources at all are helpful.

This can be the best place to sell too, and one member here, @bluerose9978, has a price guide that is updated very often. Good luck and welcome to the TP!

The eBay auctions you may have looked at may have had their prices too high because I have had great luck with selling on eBay. Some also sell on Facebook or etsy. The MLP Arena and here are great places to sell too.

Just make sure you have lots of pics, a good description, and don't try to overprice your ponies and you should get them sold easily.

@carmel_whitworth I'm sorry to hear that you are in bad living conditions, and heartily agree with you trying to find your way out. Do you have a local clinic that could possibly help you find assistance? If you check around there may be places that will provide you with meds and counseling. Check the link below, they probably have some service in your area.

Don't hesitate to ask for help locating services. I used to work in the field, so I know some resources you could possibly check out. Depends on your state.

Oh man this is embarassing ;; I didn't expect people to really read this stuff!

I had some bad therapy for a bit, though she was going to refer me to a good psychiatrist, ended up getting pulled out of therapy and the psychiatrist was cancelled.

Right now, it's gonna be that my regular doctor will refer me to one. It'll take until august 10th until I actually get the referral, then it's gonna be who knows how long til I actually get in. It sucks when you live in the middle of nowhere, all these places are 100% packed to the brim. :/

Cause of that, they were thinking about hospitalizing me but akdnlasdnkals! It's going to be okay though. My sister is very very supportive of me and she is willing to help me with pretty much anything so if it keeps getting bad over here she will let me stay with her for a while.

Selling ponies is about the only way I know how to get started cause I can't do much else ;)

I'm sorry that you're having a hard time at home and with mental health issues. I've been there! Pony hugs!

To be honest, I feel like eBay is one of the best places to sell ponies because of how many people use it on a daily basis. And if you want, you can do both an auction and a buy-it-now option for your pony listings. This gives both auction lovers and people who prefer to simply pay upfront an opportunity to purchase your things. Starting the auction price reasonably low entices people to bid on it, and if they want it badly enough, they'll probably just pay the buy-it-now amount. I know I've done that, lol!

The MLP Arena, Etsy and this site are also good choices for selling ponies. You could even put them on Craigslist if you wanted a local buyer (in order to avoid shipping costs).

Good luck with everything!

I'm sorry to hear you're having such issues! :/ That's sad that you may have to give up your ponies... I hope you at least keep a few of your favorite ones!

As for the best place to sell, I would say the ponies will probably sell the fastest on eBay, since it' s just such a large market. It is also a lot easier to sell on eBay-- you can just list it and someone will come along and buy it without you having to do much of anything, since it's already set up for you. But you will lose a lot of money to fees.

If you sell them directly to collectors, like on here or Facebook or wherever, you will know that they are going to great homes with collectors, but things might not sell as fast. Plus you will have to deal with everyone deluging you at once with questions about condition, wanting to hold things, wanting more pictures, wanting to combine orders, wanting them shipped to Abu Dhabi (points to anyone who gets the reference! :D ), etc. Some people back out of sales, or make tons of excuses for why they can't pay right away. EVERYONE goes after the same few ponies, and they will message you all at once wanting the rarer ones, and they might only leave you with the common ones that are harder to sell.

So, I don't know, it's really up to you where you would feel most comfortable selling them. I would recommend breaking them up and selling them bit by bit, so you're not too overwhelmed.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. Its so positive though that you have a plan in mind for yourself. That is wonderful. I agree with Bluerose. Many ebay pony auctions are just way too high in price and they don't sell quickly if at all. Some people have stores and they inflate the pony prices to cover the fees, the packing materials, the original price they paid and before long a pony that's worth about 9.00 suddenly becomes 39.99. I really do believe you will be able to sell on ebay. I have had good luck selling on ebay. My ponies have sold. I usually sell my damaged ponies in lots and have done well enough. Ebay and paypal fees are high though and you do need to consider those when listing not just the pony value. Also you can sell here.
