What is this?

Ok...so i don't have any pics, so i will do my best to explain.
On a G4 pony, the hoof with the hole has a number written in black, what is this number??? I think it might be what number the pony was out of the ones produced of a specific pony or wave, but i have no evidence. Do your G4 ponies have this? I think G3.5 had it too?

I think its a manufacturer's number that has something to do with meeting standards regarding lead and/or phthalates in children's toys.

I'm thinking the hole is in case Hasbro decides to make a playset later that would need the pony to be stationary and not fall off (like a merry go round or something) they've already got something in place. In my opinion, thats their way of thinking ahead
