I just finishes a free piece for a member here, and I was wondering what everyone thought of it.... would it be worth it to make more like this? It took me over 6 hours to put it altogether, I basically took a real pony pic an copy & pasted lots of small pieces together to make a whole pony... what do you think, should I hold off from doing it again - or is it decent enough that I should make more? (Please be honest)

I have mixed feelings on it. I kinda like it, kinda don't. I think maybe if you left the checkerboard pattern out and did a different background it'd look better. The head is what throws it off for me I think. The body is a real pony, yes? But the head, or at least the eyes mouth/tongue are animated or something? Not meaning to be rude or offensive at all, just honest.
 
Hehe, it's just the tongue, background, bowl, hat & bows, and some of the outlines are not part of a real pony, everything else is from a real pony ^^;
I probably won't try it again as it took so long... and it gets funnier looking every time I see it, but I do have some love for it since I spent so long on it. 00) -LMAO-

I still think it's awesome! :D

I can understand why some people might not find it to taste - the checkered pattern on the pony looks a bit off in contrast to pinkie, and the face is rather flat, but I doubt the face would have been an easy thing to do especially considering there are no actual ponies to date with their tongue poking out (the head could have been done when there was perhaps more light on the pony to bring out shine, since it looks dark compared to the body).

But despite that, I just love it! I'm quite the traditional artist and don't particularly find contemporary or abstract art to taste - I consider this little piece to be pop art - however there's a certain charm to this one that's both cute and amusing, and I can't help but smile each time I look at it. (And I don't like Pinkie Pie so it's not because of him/her! My Pinkie's a dude >_>)

But of course, that's just my opinion. :3


p.s. those ponies on the colouring page have such freaky eyes D:} *horror* The stubby legs of the back pony is funny though. I wants to draws it :p
 
It looks really interesting - maybe a tad too time consuming for adoptables though xD
