Variations of G1 pony pets?

I know there are a few different versions of Spike the Dragon out there, and I was wondering if there were different versions of other pony pets such as the dogs, cats, Ducksoup, and Princess dragons and bushwoolies, etc. Were there different versions that came with different releases of playsets for example? I also know that some of the pony playsets were released internationally-if they came with pets, were those pets different variations from the US ones?

Can anyone help me figure out how many variations of the pony pets are out there? Any help would be appreciated :D

Twinkles the cat is white in the US, and she is red in Argentina. Also, Brandy the dog is yellow in the US and brown in another country. Thats as far as my knowledge goes lol

that isn't true.. Brown Brandy came with the Show Stable, yellow with Home Sweet Home and ?another? with Megan's Place. As for Twinkles, orange went with Pretty Parlor, white with Boutique (named Catnip) and I believe there was another also. All of these in the US.
 
As far as I know, here are the different pets (I will try to get pictures later):

CATS:
Twinkles - (Pretty Parlour) Orange cat with dark stripes. I think I have 2 variations. I'll try to get some pictures if they're different.

Catnip - (US Brush Me Beautiful) White cat, green stripes

Snowball - (UK Pretty Parlour w/Kisscurl) White w/green stripes....possibly different plastic and shade than the US.

Snowball, or unknown name - (poss. Germany?) I have another Snowball/Catnip cat, but the plastic is a very different shade of white and the green is also a different shade. Not sure where it came from though but I've seen a couple around.


DOGS:
Brandy #1 - (US Show Stable) Brown with brown accents, red tongue. Has slightly slanted round eyes.

Brandy #2 - (Unknown Show Stable) Brown w/brown accents. Has vertical oval shaped eyes.

Brandy #3 - (Unknown Show Stable) Brown w/brown accents. Has comma shaped eyes.

Name Unknown - poss. Brandy #4 - (US Home Sweet Home) Yellow w/purple accents.

Name Unknown - poss. Snowball - (US Megan's Place) White with purple accents.


DUCKS:
Duck Soup - (Waterfall) Orange with yellow accents. Far as I've seen, this is the only version, but please correct me if I'm wrong - I would love for there to be variants!


DRAGONS:
Spike #1 - (Dream Castle) Pinkish purple with green accents. Half-lidded eyes (sleepy looking) This may be a faded version of Spike #2, but the colors are so different, I doubt it.

Spike #2 - (newer edition of Dream Castle??) More of a deep purple color w/ green accents. Half-lidded eyes.

Spike #3 - (Mail Order) Deep purple color w/ green accents. "Comic" eyes, with a much more alert and happy expression.

Sparks (pink - Pr. Ruby),
Prickles (green - Pr. Aquamarine),
Smokey (blue - Pr. Sapphire),
Fiery (red - Pr. Pearl),
Flash (yellow - Pr Amber),
Spiny (grey/lavender - Pr. Amethyst) -

These came with the UK releases of the Princess Ponies. They all have the "comic" eyes, with a much more alert and happy expression.


BUSHWOOLIES:
Chumster(yellow - Pr. Primrose),
Cheery(lavender - Pr. Serena),
Eager (pink - Pr. Royal Blue),
Friendly (light blue - Pr. Tiffany),
Wishful (purple - Pr Starburst),
Hugster(aqua/lavender - Pr. Sparkle)

These came with the US releases of Princess Ponies. I don't know if they were ever sold in the UK. The only "variations" I've found were very slight color differences in the paint (I think it was a Cheery), but IMO it wasn't enough to call it a true variant.
 
Thanks Taffeta for the info. I think the yellow cat you're refering to is for the Spanish Kitchen Pasterela or something like that. Someone had that set MIB, so I emailed her and asked if a cat was included. She said no. So my guess is that the yellow cat is only a prototype in catalog photos. Gee, thanks Hasbro, for teasing us :roll:
 
I suspect Taffeta is correct on the two issues of Snowball/Catnip.

I also have two distinctly different versions of Twinkles (the plastc is very different), so I wonder if that was down to different issues. I seem to recall the Grooming Parlour was out over more than one year?

As far as I know, there are no variations to the Princess Dragons, though my childhood Smokey has a minor factory fault ;) Just to reiterate, the dragons are:

Fiery (red with yellow ridges)
Flash (yellow with orange ridges)
Prickles (light green with green ridges)
Smokey (blue with blue ridges)
Sparks (pink with reddy-pink ridges)
Spiney (lilac with purple ridges)
 
Pictures of my "pets" (click for larger pic) A couple of them may not be true variants, just aged. But I keep the ones that are noticeably different anyway.





 
I have an odd version of Twinkles that had no paint at all. She has a 1 on her underside where as my normal Twinkles has a 2. I have a pic somwehere...

Thanks for the great pics you two :D Hey, someone also mentioned a red Twinkles the cat from Argentina-does anyone have a pic of this cat?
