Hi MLPTP people! The saga continues. OMG there were just so many in the box. I hardly know where to begin. I sorted them based on bait status and non-bait status and about 40 of them are baity. Others range from fair to excellent, in my opinion. If there is an actual scale that people go by of pony appearance (a ranking) I would love to know it so I can accurately grade these gals and guys. Any help you can give me would be great.

Here's the whole haul from the box, unsorted.

In total I have 116 ponies, a bunch of accessories, two banks, a surprisingly minty Fairy Tail bird with perch and comb, a new tablecloth and napkin party set, 3 dinosaurs and a brand new Waterman pen in box (LOLWHUT?)
PLEASE NO PMs about this yet, I want to get the non-bait ponies cleaned up and pictures retaken in a better state than "I've been asleep in a box for years" before I offer them for sale or trade.
====================================================

So today I started cleaning out my closet and found a monstrously large purple storage container at the bottom of a stack of clothing storage containers. I opened it expecting sweaters or blankets. Instead I found ponies. LOTS of G1 ponies. I swear I got rid of these years ago.

Now I have a dilemma. I need the space!
What do I do with these guys? On one hand I could toss the whole lot as-is on ebay and sell them as a bulk grouping.
Or I could sort through, look each one up, clean them up and sell them.
That's a lot of work for both preparing them and getting them sent off to people if they even want them. I hear the market for selling anything is terrible and G1s have never been easy to sell because everyone has different definitions of the state of the ponies.

What would you do if you found 80+ ponies in your closet?

Wow! What a find!

I would try to sell them here first. Maybe lay them out in groups, take pics, and say what you want for them? You could always take the pics, ask for ID and pricing help in one massive post! :) Don't worry about cleaning..especially if you are willing to price them to reflect their state. I know I'd like to see what might be in there. :)

WooooooooW (wishes it were her closet)

Um. I think i'd say the same as the others. lay them all out and take pictures. See what kind of offers you can get from here. Much better than ebay, no fees. Im sure there is willing people here who would love to buy them first.

If found a box like that, I'd absolutely list and price check them; it's more work, but you'll get a lot more back than if you just sell it as "bin of old ponies" with no idea what's in them.
On the other hand... I'd rather buy the whole bunch and sort them, keep the ones I want and resell the rest, so it's better for me if you sell as a bunch, and I see 'em posted ;)

Lol, I *so* wish they'd randomly breed!
TBH, if I were you I'd sort through them, make sure there weren't any intended for keeping, and put them into groups/bags according to how mingy they were - start with just cleaning and/or photographing the least dirty/grotty ones and put them on sale here to begin with, then move through the groups cleaning and listing as you go.

If they dont all sell on here by the time you've finished cleaning, you'll at least have some ID's and condition opinions on whats left, and you can put those on ebay.

It'll seem like less work if you do them a few at a time, and you'll get a *lot* more cash for them than jus putting them on ebay as a big group:)

OMG! Totally take the time and clean and sell them! That is what I would do, even if you dont clean them, just take pictures and sell on here. I would definetly be interested in buying a whole lot or whichever are at good prices. And I think it would be fun to look thorugh, great memories!

I wish! Man I would probably do what everyone else said to do too. :3 Then again I'd also flip and probably end up keeping half of them while taking them out for pictures. haha

You Could just send'm all to me LOL

Just Teasing
But They are Welcome to Come!
LOL

Wow, what a nice surprise! But yeah, I agree you should go through them and maybe take pics of smaller groups to try and sell on here first. After board members have snatched up the ones they like, you can stick the rest up on Evilbay. ;)

Wow, everyone seems to be unified on the idea of opening it up, sorting them, and offering them here first. XD I guess I'll take some photos and ask for pricing help.

Glad you decided to give us a chance to snatch them up. :) Let me know when you got pics, i'm excited to see and buy. :)

I'd ID them and see if anyone wants them here. I'm trying to find a few more G1's for my collection anyway. Looks like that's what your going to do, so I'll defiently take a look at who you have.

If you happen to have a Parasol you're selling for cash for very cheap (less then $11, lol) please drop me a PM, shes pink with about 5 umbrellas on her hind, with a rainbow mane and tail

Ooh I wanna see what you've got. I'm only looking for a few specific ones.
I spot Glory, but I already have her.

What would you do if you found 80+ ponies in your closet?

I'd throw them in the air like autumn leaves with an insane expression on my face, and go like "PONIES! AND THEY'RE ALL OURS! YHAAAHAHAHAHAAAAH! PONIIIEEES!!!"
