Jewel's Upcycled Crafts
Hi everyone!
Over the past few years, I've developed a bit of a side hobby of taking damaged G1 paper items and upcycling them into usable crafts, saving them from the trash and creating new items for fellow collectors to enjoy.
I'm very grateful to the many pony friends who have sent me their un-sellable, unusable, and otherwise unsalvageable paper pieces that I have been able to repurpose in this way.
Things to know about this process:
- If a paper piece can be salvaged or valued by a collector, I will not use it, rather I will pass it on to someone who will value and enjoy it.
- I will ONLY work with significantly damaged pieces and scraps. No vintage items are sacrificed for these projects, they are 100% salvage.
- This process can be LONG and TEDIOUS. Everything is done by hand--cutting out the figures, sourcing the backgrounds, and putting together different pieces to make a cohesive item. I use archival inks and Prismacolor pencils to fill in gaps and restore missing or damaged parts of any given graphic. Some items use more than a dozen individually-cut pieces in order to create the final product!
