Here's the transcript -

According to a new press release sent out yesterday, Toys “R” Us and all of its subsidiary companies are being acquired by a group of investors led by an entity entitled ‘Geoffrey, LLC’.

The announcement was made after a 5-month long marketing campaign to sell Toys R Us’ assets and branding.

The press release noted that the new “Geoffrey, LLC, as reorganized, will control a portfolio of intellectual property that includes trademarks, e-commerce assets and data associated with the Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us businesses in the United States and all over the world, including a portfolio of over 20 well-known toy and baby brands such as Imaginarium, Koala Baby, Fastlane and Journey Girls. The reorganized company will own rights to the Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us brands in all markets globally, with the exception of Canada.”

Yesterday at the Dallas Toy Preview, the Geoffrey mascot was spotted walking around with a “back from vacation” cape on.

According to their toy show profile, Geoffrey LLC will now be operating under the name ‘Geoffrey’s Toy Box’ as a “Wholesale toy distributor and intellectual property company whose focus is on popular play patterns across trusted brands that kids and parents love. Geoffrey’s Toy Box is a fully outfitted organization with design, development and global sourcing expertise. Portfolio includes popular brands like Journey Girls, Fastlane, True Heroes, You & Me, Imaginarium, Just like Home and more!”

Geoffrey’s Toy Box will launch consumer locations across the country this coming November as a “shop-within-a-shop” concept, initially partnering with “a prominent Midwest retailer.”

I personally am going to hold off until there is more concrete news about this. If any old store TRU locations are brought back to full life or new store locations (built from scratch) are put into their system. Otherwise, this means nothing really to any of us, especially not until our beloved MLPs (old school retro comebacks and Gen5 and Gen6) are officially in stores. In the meantime, Target is my main location for MLPs again.

By "this coming November" do they mean next month? Like, next month next month?

I must admit I’m releved to see that Canada is not included in this, since we still have our brick and mortar TRUs, and I’m hoping they continue to do ok. But the market here is so significantly different than in the US, I’m not sure what would have happened if TRU had closed in Canada. It’s not like we have a thousand department stores to turn to here (no target, no Kmart, no jc penny, no meijers...)

I saw something about this on the news the other day. I was relieved that they were coming back since our mall and our businesses here do so well. Like, our Sears and JCP have no plans to close anytime soon because they are booming, yet they are closing stores across the U.S. I think our TRU did well too. It stands in front of the mall so lonely now...

I hope so our TRU is still far away but it did well and was the highlight of going that far out.

HA HA HA HA HA
Kmart died here, JCPenney is going under and I'm surprised Target is still alive

I've only been able to buy ponies from Walmart's tiny selection, and the internet x.x

Mall just jacks up its prices so I can't afford to shop there anyways

TRU atleast had a whole ISLE dedicated to ponies. I really need that back ;3;

You’d hate the state of the “pony” aisle now at TRU. At the few I’ve been in near me it’s literally a shelf or two and it’s hidden amongst other random things. It makes my heart so sad to see it so tiny now. :,(

The nearest TRU was in Dallas for us and they seldom had more than just a smattering of MLP. I dunno if Texas just doesn't get the goods or they're sold out by the time I get there, but I am very miffed that Ponies are being kept from me. I will pinch someone. Really hard!

Yeah I've been to 2 in the west coast and both had the largest pony selection I've ever seen with close to a side of a aisle being full of ponies

Target being 2nd.

Walmart is just always lacking

I hope that when Geoffrey's Toybox comes back that they still have a good amount of ponies

That sounds kinda undoable for a massive franchise that bit the dust a few months ago. Maybe next November?

Right now the best place for me to go to is Target. Which is great because I love Target. I'm such a typical millenial.
My Walmart's section is incredibly sad and very mixed up. Even with everything conditioned and looking neat it's still incredibly lacking.
My TrU was taken over by Party City's popup but I live close to King of Prussia so I might be able to venture that way if they DO get them up this year.

I really wish they were more clear! Spirit Halloween must have their leases for August 1st, so we are a week over the ideal time for TrU to start theirs.
Wait wait!
Now I'm seeing that TrU is planning to start their own PRIVATE toy brand? So it would be sold in Target and Walmart. It seems like they plan to do BOTH private brand and physical locations.
:/ This is interesting for Hasbro and Mattel. They have competition in toy aisles, and if they go for a private label...it seems unlikely that TrU would be stocking other brands other than their own.
Huh?

I would say it’s easily doable if they’re going to do it as an online store (much the same as Amazon). Which what I’ve read a lot about. Considering they already have product in Canada and could potentially set up shipments from Canada. It’s easy enough to rebrand for regions.

This is good news. Sort-of. Our TRU was a bit out of the way and I never learned how to drive there before it closed, so I never got to go by myself. (I don't much like driving and I'm in a high traffic area. I don't go out after 2 pm most days.) So, hey, if they bring it back, that'd be great. I usually shop online unless I'm at walmart, but it's nice getting ponies or things that need to be seen in person, like Funko Pops, in a brick and morter store. Also, the majority of my collection is G1 and G3, and I don't have many G4 things, so Geoffrey's Toy Box can't really help me there, but it'd be nice in case of any exclusives or something really cool coming out.

I'm excited. I took the closings hard. My boyfriend got super-sick of taking me around the county to take advantage of the sales on a weekly to bi-weekly basis, I think....LOL...
