Toxic Chemicals in Our Ponies?

I have hard woods, but the termites get to chewing on it and you will find a corner all eaten away and you didn't even know you had termites. At last inspection they said our house was fine. Well, I must have them somewhere. ARGH

Dang, gotta hate pests! I am so terrified of owning. We started looking at houses last year and we put in bids on two Capes and one we were outbid and the other we actually had a contract on and then a last minute cash buyer came in and the owners asked us to increase our offer or walk away. WTF? Lets just say we found a nice rental and stopped thinking about buying for a while. We have a huge fenced in yard and a flat in a really nice neighborhood. Our neighbor only stops home every few weeks. It really is ideal and if anything breaks we do not have to pay to fix it. For the first time in my 20 years of renting I have an amazing landlord.

I think the best benefit of owning though is your money is actually going to make you money one day. When you rent you are giving money away that you can't ever get back. I hear ya though sometimes there is peace in that. I own and its a huge stress. That was rude for the real estate agent to let that happen. Its the money though. They wanted the money. Sad..wasn't meant to be. The place is probably haunted anyway. Who needs seeing their ponies thrown up against the wall all day. Yea you are better off. ROFLOL

I figure something's going to kill me; it might as well be something I enjoy!

But seriously, I really, really doubt, unless you're hacking up ponies into tiny pieces and EATING them on a daily basis, there's much danger there.
Death by ponies!!! I totally agree, if chemicals are gonna kill ya make em chemicals ya love!
Pick your poisons.

My poison happen to be ponies.
Same here!

Well, we are not eating Ponies On A stick everyday, I suppose, so we collectors are pretty much safe, ain't we?

Oh, you're not? Fried-Pony-On-A-Stick is pretty good. :p

To be serious, though, if there were a significant amount of toxins in older ponies, wouldn't there be more cases of people getting sick by now?

I was going to say something similar, Phekzhen. Unless the chemicals are ingested, it should be fine. It's not like they're made of asbestos or something that can get into her lungs, etc. unless they are directly ingested, and it's not radioactive.

I just wanted to add that I found this website that has tested ponies... you can see the results here:

HealthyStuff.org | Researching Toxic Chemicals in Everyday Products

That site did a test for the MLP Pony Hair Accessory Set with the following results and a "Overall Level of Concern" Rating of "HIGH", which just goes to show you that you cannot trust what China, Hong Kong, Korea etc...is putting into the products they send over here.

Arsenic Medium
Bromine Low
Cadmium None
Chlorine High
Chromium Medium
Mercury None
Lead Low
Antimony Medium
Tin Medium

Yeah stuff made in China is just horrible. Even if they try to follow some of the standards and guidelines, the country is so toxic I imagine it cannot be helped in some cases. Whenever we have a Mom and Pop company we love who goes on Shark Tank or wants money to start manufacturing overseas we immediately stop using their items. I also contact them to let them know why I will never buy their items again. When you have kids you really have to research what you allow them to be exposed to. We do not do store bought pajamas anymore after finding out how many chemicals are on them, but I did not know it when my son was little and he lived in them :/ We live in a toxic world and you cannot control everything obviously, but you can try to limit your exposure.

Oh and adults are susceptible too. Kids just show more damage because they are growing and developing. Adults can be lead poisoned and injured from toxic chemicals as well.
