To re-hair or not to re-hair?

During my move I re-discovered a bag of fleamarket-bought baity ponies that were clearly purchased with the intent to restore them as best as I could and well it's been a while since I did any vintage pony restoration and I'm wondering what kind of attitude people have towards re-haired ponies these days? From what I can remember from waaaay back when I used to do this before, it was a complete toss-up whether people found it acceptable or completely unacceptable

The two ponies I've been working on currently are the Nurse ponies Nurse Tenderheart and Nurse Sweetheart.

Some young barber has given Sweetheart a more sporty hairdo before she came to me, and while the mane and tail are otherwise very neat and in good shape its...well. Oh dear.

Tenderheart is sadly frizzed to the extreme. The picture here is after I've heat-treated, conditioner-brushed and de-tangled and washed and re-shaped her mane and tail. So while hers are the original correct length still, they wont get any more silky looking than this :hmph:

I am looking to re-home them eventually so that's why I am looking for some opinions regarding the possible re-hairing! Thanks for any replies!

I’d leave as is.

If I had gotten Tenderheart to that level of frizz I’d be more than happy to display her like that!
Sweetheart, personally I think she’d okay(?) since you said you’d sell her but I would see what other people say about her. Maybe if I saw her in person I may want to rehair now I’ve looked at her a bit longer as I’m writing. Her hair is original so I think you’d still get a fair price when you rehome eventually.

Thank you! Seems like people mostly don't find their hair quite as rough as I feared. Which is a nice surprise honestly, because ordering new hair for vintage ponies over here is a heck of a struggle every time oof.

If you're planning on selling them I personally wouldn't rehair! I personally don't like buying repairs because it increases the price and id either like the pony in original condition or to rehair her myself :) thats just my opinion though!
That does make sense, thank you! :)

honestly, sweetheart with that bob-esque haircut is really cute imo. someone might think the same or can rehair on their own.
I will admit, I find her sporty short hairdo totally adorable, personally  Just couldn't be sure anyone else would agree!
