The straight up weirdest thing you’ve seen while pony hunting?

For me it's how people can't tell a fake from real. I mean I look at listings and I'm like really? It's so obvious
You know, you’d think that, but even my parents (having watched me grow up surrounded by my pony army) still have an extremely difficult time telling apart a fakie from any of my real ponies. They aren’t even that old! (My mom was the prime demographic for ponies when they first started coming out, especially as a horse girl) But still, when people aren’t familiar, I guess it’s difficult.

In some people's defense (emphasis on 'some'), they just don't know what they have. My sister's mother in law would buy me fakies she finds thinking they're real. Sometimes its hard for those who just simply don't know.

Aww, that's awfully sweet of her to look for you. :3

@Draco I do not understand this kind of product. There is no way anyone can mass produce a good-looking animal costumes. There are reasons why fursuit artists on the richer side of online artist.

Seriously, Hasbro?

You have to give some props to the model. She tries to vary her expressions a little to match the characters.

And the target is probably very young children. Five year olds love anything that looks ridiculous and possibly startles adults. Somewhere there's a child that popped up next to the side of their parents bed on a Saturday morning wearing these.

Those could be great for a con event. You have to wear those while giving s short serious discussion or debate. And see how long any audience lasts before laughing.

Not a pony exactly, but I saw a diy-pony blanket once at an antique store. It was a quilt that had applejack and rainbow dash on it. The bizarre part was the stains all over it, looked like it was a baby changing table

Mine isn't really a weird story, but kinda funny.

When I go to visit my mom down in FL there is a flea market right off of i95 that I stop at sometimes. I know there is a lady there who collects toys and plush to sell and while they're usually filthy, it's always a huge abundance and you never know. Could be ponies there eventually!

One time she noticed my gaze had fallen upon the Harry Potter patronus plush - the deer one you can make at Build-a-Bear.
Then she said to me, "That's actually a Harry Potter item."
I'm already aware of this, but I sometimes like to play dumb to see where the conversation goes.
"Oh? What makes it Harry Potter?" I say.
She goes, "Well, that's just one of his creations. You know he's the author of that book series?"
"......ah, yes?" I nod along.
"Well, this is just another one of his designs. He created a lot of things. You know how I can tell?"
"..oh? How?"
"Because if you lift the leg here, you can see the artist's signature." She shows me the Harry Potter logo on the hoof.
"Ahh.. I see!" I'm nodding along, smiling.

I don't know why I'm like this. But anyway, it was very amusing!

That reminds me of this cool plush my friend found in a thrift shop and gave me. It’s VERY well made! It’s a dinosaur made out of G4 movie fabric.

My mom had something like that happen once, she was looking at a Talavera pot and when she asked how much it was the woman told her that it was signed by the artist on the bottom and when mom looked it said hecho en mexico on the bottom and the woman said that Hecho was the Mexican artist that made it, ma told me that the woman was very embraced when she informed her that hecho en mexico didn't mean it was made by a guy named Hecho in Mexico but that it ment made in Mexico.
