The return of G1 Firefly is here! *Pictures!*

there are dimensions on the product page....thingy

OMG What if they made Mimic and sold it with the four golden horse shoes as the book !?!?! That would be AWESOME......

Now that would be cool.

I'm super excited for this. I can't wait to get her.
Thank you so much for sharing the pictures. She doesn't look like the G1 in the picture, she looks a little piggy to me. Very cute & glad she is different. :)

I am so upset that the company that produced this product lied to everyone. This is clearly not the same as what they originally showed.:cry2:

It wasn't what was shown but I'll be keeping mine.. I DO like the book and I can do something with the pony herself.. But yeah not what was shown isn't what we got

And Nichi, check your FB real quick!

I agree with you--she looks more like a fakey than a true pony. Her head is much too big.

The great part is that the size of the eyes matches the body... just not the head. This is one spooky-looking figure! The hair is super-short even by mini-standards and the tail is rooted in a circle just like most Dollar Store fakes. It's a terrible figure and not worth bothering over. The Dolly Mix ones are much, much nicer, have longer hair and aren't horrifically misproportioned.

The book's cute. Microscopic, but cute.

My Firefly specifically had some of its hair plugs eaten by its neck... with enough gentle pulling I got them almost to the proper length and she no longer has a literal neckbeard. The head doesn't seem to be easily removable so good luck if anyone has ideas about rehairing the little monster. Amazon was awesome and gave me a refund without having to send her back so I can keep it on the desk, staring at me with its wonky face constantly. Thanks?.. :surprisepony:

That's cool but I though Hasbro lost the rights to the origianl pony names/designs or something?
I hope they reissue a few other G1, Im not really a fan of firefly.
I went into some detail about that a few months back, I don't remember in which context, but the basic gist was this:
Personally, I think the whole "Hasbro lost the rights to the original pony names" is nonsense.
1st, because they used quite a few G1 names during G3, even though they should've lost the rights to them by then.
2nd, because they could easily secure the rights of any pony name by trademarking "My Little Pony Skydancer" instead of just "Skydancer".
3rd, other than bringing it up for nostalgia value, Hasbro has seemed pretty much intent on pretending G1 or G2 never existed (with a few exceptions) and instead basing the whole franchise around G3. It's not like they couldn't bring G1 characters back, it's that they didn't want to.
4th, the Dolly Mixes exist.

As an addendum, I'd just like to point out that the names they claim were the only ones they didn't lose the rights to, Applejack and Spike, are probably some of the hardest names to secure ever.
To be fair, Spike I can understand them not losing, since he'd been in use ever since the Princess Promenade movie (2005) up until The World's Biggest Tea Party musical (2008 ), with G3 ending and G3.5 lasting barely a year before G4. That's not long enough to lose rights over a name.
But Applejack? Not even taking the obvious connections to cereal into account, in G3 they used her all of twice, both in 2003. That's not only nearly 20 years after her last use in G1, but a whole 7 before she was brought back for G4. Hasbro could have lost and gained the rights repeatedly, but if that's the case, Applejack wasn't even a major player in G3, so of all the names they could've secured, why bother bringing her back? Why not Cotton Candy, a character they were actively using, for one?

Tl;dr: There is enough evidence to suggest that the whole "Hasbro lost the rights to G1 names" thing is absolute twaddle.

Anyway, moving right along.
This is great. It almost makes me feel bad I already have a Firefly, otherwise I might have gotten this one! And I don't want to sound like a massive Geewunner, but...
Woo-hoo for G1 making a comeback! That makes me so happy! :satisfied:

Great points!

If I remember correctly, a while back Hasbro released info that all of the original G1 molds were destroyed.

Mattel, who did the same with many of their molds, created new castings from vintage He-Man figures. They then released the MOTU Classics line.

Hasbro got a lot of pressure from *ahem* collectors (?) or at least saw an opportunity for G1 ponies. They re-cast some molds and released the 25th Anniversary G1 3-packs.

That's how I remember it going down - feel free to correct me :)

Received mine today. I'm sure she'll grow on me... :surprisepony: Somehow, I think I'd like it better of there were a whole line of them, so you could line them up with their big heads on a shelf with the fashems...

Looks like Baby FT North Stars Body with a shrunken Firefly head. The eyes aren't happy ponies eye. Looks like the life has been taken outta her.

Nope.

Wal Mart sent me a sorry we cant fill this order after I preordered mine. So I got a refund. I am sad as I really wanted that firefly and it was such a good price.

She looks a little strange, but I will still be buying her. I'm loving the G1 brushable thanks Hasbro! :ponylove:
