"The OC" changed the value of Princess Sparkle

is anybody else noticing that lately, it's not likely that she ends for less than $35 when listed correctly?

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the WB show the OC as I see so many auctions now listed with "Princess sparkle, as seen on the OC!"

She was never that expensive before, in fact I sold 2 of my extras of her a couple of years back for about $5 a piece...interesting how a little publicity for her really boosted her sale record

She's been doing it since the summer - it's really disconcerting that it's still carrying on. I guess there are a bunch of OC fans who want her without being pony fans, as such - but the longer the price hike goes on, the longer she's going to stay expensive. And if it goes on TOO long, she'll be expensive permanently. So many collectors come and go these days, many people will come in and just accept that that's her sale value. They'll simply pay it :S

For example, someone sticks her on ebay, then people bid crazily for her because she's on the OC, so private traders decide to raise their prices...so then people go to ebay looking, and wind up raising their bid so the pony sells for more....

Etc. :S

It's the Mimic syndrome over again.

I noticed that Princess Sparkle sold very often for high prices. But I don´t had the idea, that this could be the reason (I haven´t watched all the posts here about Princess Sparkle at OC). But you are right, it could be. Princess Sparkle is very popular, now. She is a movie-star 8):wink:.

I'm very upset about the OC raising her value so much. This means I will very likely not be able to get one :(
 
i wasnt able to get her before the whole Oc thing. however i did get one on ebay in a unnamed lot with a bin for 22.00$. i think that was fair, i got several other ponies with her so.. it as even better! otherwise i wouldnt have been able to get ehr either.. i do have her body though, she missing ehr head, but if anyone wnats her let me know!

So... what exactly is the OC? I mean, what kind of show? And when did P. Sparkle star on it and how? *Does not watch t.v. - just movies* :)
 
the OC is about a bunch of rich spoiled brats with high sex appeal.........that's what I got from it, and I can't stand it...plus I think Mischa Barton looks like a dog
 
hi, i think OC means orange county? i could be wrong though. basiclly its a show based on the lives of rich high schoool kids. they all date and so on.. its an ok show. but i live here in reality so its hard for em to understand their make beileve lives somtimes..lol.. one episode one charater Summer had to go in her room and get princess sparkelr. i think she was leaving and had to get her before she could leave.. her boyfriend in the show has a horse called Mr.Oates i believe and his horse and Summer date.. i havent seen the show in awhile so i may be a bit off...

Princess Sparkle makes a cameo in many episodes now, especially this past season and last, as she is Summer's memoir from childhood.
and her boyfriend has a good luck horse named Captain Oats coincedentally.

So THAT'S it! I've been wondering for months what the heck the OC was!

Makes me very glad I got mine 8 years ago, lol.

Of course, now I wish I still had all the extras I've sold over the years, lol.

I sold my Princess Sparkle on eBay a couple weeks ago, and she went for $37! I couldn't believe it! I didn't mention the OC in the auction, nor am I familiar with what the OC is. However, I must admit that I knew she had been going high, and decided it was a good time to put my extra on eBay. If someone's willing to pay the price, they hey, that's more money for me to buy more ponies, which is exactly what I do with the money I get from selling. I know that will probably upset people, but why not help yourself out when you can? My auction winner was a guy that was getting it as a Christmas present for his girlfriend...he was so sweet and friendly in his e-mails. I really don't think she's worth that much...I was also surprised about a year ago when I sold my extra MGR Sparkler for $26. I still don't see what's so great about her, but I'll gladly take the high price when I sell.
 
i had a really hard time finding MGR sparkler, she was the last one i got.. i overpaud for mine too!! but i had to have her to finish the set off!
 
Now I'm considering selling my extra, less-than-perfect one on eBay! Her head is just a tad darker than her bod - and I've a very minty one already I got a few years back in a trade.

Hmm...methinks I may have to do just that!

gz, I have 2 as well, 1 near mint and 1 from childhood... for $35 Id probly part with the near mint one.... maybe I should list her.. humm....

ya know, I wish they had a lickiety slpit with white hair on there instead, there is a pony most of us are drowning in, how cool would it be to sell our extras for $10 each?

we should write them a letter "dear writers of the "OC" please put a lickiety split pony with white hair in the show, Ill send you one if you want. us pony collector people would like the value of this pony to go up as it is painfully common, unlike princess sparkle who was always arround a $10 value befor your show and is now a $35 value.
