The McDonald's Custom Pony Swap! Aaaaannnnnddd, we are DONE!

i think i will do this. will send you a pm in a bit.
just a quick question. i read that you think about $7.00 needs to be set aside for shipping. will it really cost that much to ship a mcd pony? i havent send one out, but i would think it wouldnt cost more than $2.00, since they weigh so much less than 1 pony alone.

I suggested the amount to put aside based on past experience. I ship everything Priority, and as said, it can cost at least $5 sometimes, plus you MUST buy Delivery Confirmation.

but why mail it as priority when it can also be sent as first class? i ship first class and everyone says that it came fast, not to mention way cheaper when less than 1lb or less than 5oz.

It CAN be sent as First Class, but I recommend Priority. You do't have to send it that way, but in my experience, Priority is better. It's faster, and it seems that better care is taken of your packages. Also, it's summer, and sealant can melt and be sticky in the heat. I want my packages to get there quickly and not have the possibility of sitting on a loading dock for hours. LOL!

Also, it should be reiterated that if you sculpt in this swap you will be sending in a box. Bubble mailers are not allowed for sculpted customs, regardless of whether you send it First Class or Priority.

ok. i gotcha. dc is affordable, its less than a dollar. lets just hope they all make it to their new homes in one piece and not sticky.

In my experience, some of the one's from the 1st release will come apart with some boiling and elbow grease. I'm not sure how that would work with the newer one's, I think they're a harder plastic. But I'm not sure, so don't take my word as gospell.
Ok that's kind of what I thought too.

I picked up couple of different colored McD ponies today at the fair for $0.25. I have a few at home, but I wanted to be sure I had a variety of body colors.

Good planning! Can't beat bait for a quarter!

I had to restrain myself from buying any at the flea market yesterday because I have dozens already.

Probably not, she just saw you were hosting a swap and jumped at the idea :p

(Love you Aadra!)

hehe, in Aadra defense I wondered the same thing and had to reread everything twice! I saw it day one and was excited for it as well. I had to make sure I had some McD ponies to use, I knew I had some but finding them was a trick!

I'm gonna send ya a pm in a minute to join up, just have to find all my custom links again. Le sigh, I should really get more organized for these things.

Just want to make sure I'm officially in since I haven't shown up on the participants list yet... <3

Agh so many goodies to choose from! I'm gonna have to do some research on a couple of these though XD

Everyone should have gotten a PM with their partner's info, so if I missed anyone (cuz I did this in about 4 minutes over lunch today) let me know!

This is a quick swap, but let's remember to take our time. Even though McD's are small, there's no prize for finishing first. :D

For once I've had an easy decision to make! *yay!* Now I just need to see if I have the right hair colors on hand.

same here. got to check out the options to see which would work out best for me. cant wait to get started on it.

I just got back from Kentucky yesterday afternoon and I'm ready to start! I got the bait prepped and partially painted. I'm planning to finish the painting tonight.

My bait is dyed and rehaired. Luckily, I own the pony I'm making so I can see her symbols and I'll be done probably tomorrow. LOL More time to work on others, I guess!

I don't meet the qualifications yet for this, being a n00b nobody here knows, but if anyone needs McD ponies, please let me know. I sell McD toys on eBay and buy them in large lots of 20-30 at a time from thrift stores -- a certain thrift store packages all the McD toys in plastic bags and sells them in bulk lot.

Anyway, I have tons of McD bait ponies if anyone needs one. I'll ship 'em at cost (which is is about fifty cents + shipping.)

I ship a lot of toys, BTW. FYI on shipping, to clarify a few things:

1) You can ship First Class up to 13 oz. At 13.01 oz you've gotta go to Priority mail. You can send a box First Class, but it's a good idea to hand the box to a post office clerk, not drop it in a mailbox. A small box + pony is under 13 oz in most cases.

2) If you have a Paypal account you can print First Class shipping labels from Paypal, with tracking, so you do not need to go to the post office other than to hand the box to a clerk.

(You can also print Priority Mail labels from the Paypal website, and there's a discount off the price at the post office.)

3) If you're over 13 oz or you just prefer priority mail, your best bet on shipping a small pony priority is to use a flat rate small Priority Mail box. It's a flat rate of under $5 anywhere in the US. Plain Priority Mail, depending on how many zones you're crossing, can be over $5 -- up to $8-something if memory serves me right -- for under 1 pound. If printed from Paypal this includes tracking. Small boxes are around the size of a VHS cassette. The little ponies will easily fit, and the small boxes are very sturdy and crush-resistant and come free from the post office. (You can even order a bundle of 25 boxes free from the USPS website, though allow several weeks for delivery.)

4) If you use hot glue to attach anything, be aware it can get hot enough in a vehicle (i.e., back of a delivery truck) to make the glue let loose.

i have 2 possibilities i could do. just need to decide which one i want to do the most. its kind of a hard decision. id like to do both, but i can only do one for my partner. unless i put the other one up for sale.

I'm still between 2... I'm gonna wait for my baits to get in first and then I'm going to make my final decision. I have other customs to finish up in the mean time so I have plenty of time to plot XD

Painting is all done and she's partially rehaired now. The body color is a bit off, but I've something in mind to help with that. So far she is super cute!

Is it wrong that I'm almost done already? o_O I just need to finsh 1/2 a mane. I guess that's what happens when I have 2 days off and no life :p :)
