Okay, so this is quite a story. Please feel free to skip it and just look at the photos. :icon_smile_lachuh: Just before, or around, Christmas time my mother told me she had been discussing me with a friend of hers (always a joy to hear that). Turns out her friend also has a daughter that had MLPs growing up and is now at the point in her life when she's ready to part with them. My mother, always an amazing pony finder, suggests to her friend that I be allowed to contact her daughter and see if I can help find homes for the ponies she wants to get rid of.
Several weeks later Mom sends me the girls email address and I send her a quick email explaining that I am an active collector and am interested in what she has. I tell her depending on what she has, I would be happy to help her find buyers here on the TP or through ebay, or whatnot.
She eventually emails me back and this begins a two or three week discourse on what she has and what condition it is all in. I discover that she lives in Texas, not Oregon, as I had supposed (since that's where both our mothers live). She has a lot more in her collection than I expected and I finally decide that I want to make her an offer for the entire lot, to save her the time of trying to sell it all individually and to make me happy with lots of ponies. :cheshire: So I made her an offer for everything she had, minus the Paradise Estate as I already own it and that sucker takes up WAY too much room. She accepted the offer with no bartering. She kept a handful of the ponies that had strong sentimental meaning for her and that I didn't need for my collection. There were no ponies in her collection that were super rare or hard to find, but I am happy with what I got and the price that I paid.
Then the funniest part of the story. (Or, at least, I find it funny.) I randomly ask her where in Texas she lives because I was about to make a trip to Austin, Texas for a mini vacation with my husband and if she was anywhere near I could save the hassle of some of the shipping. Turns out she lives in a suburb just north of Austin!
So, we took an hour out of our trip (I love my husband, have I mentioned that?) to drive up to her house and I was able to pack ALL the ponies, accessories and even three of the play-sets into my luggage. That just left her needing to ship me one box with the three remaining play-sets. Turned out great! Of course, I had no room in my luggage for much of anything else, so we went to Salvation Army and bought another suitcase to help us get everything back to Albuquerque in. (Thank God for two free checked bags on Southwest Airlines!)
So, without further ado, the 99 ponies, the play-sets and accessories I came home with from Austin, Texas!
So, that's what I came home with from my trip. Hooray! Thanks for taking a look!
